Thai authorities have turned away a group of 200 Rohyingya refugees who were found drifting off the coast of Thailand, AFP reports. A Thai navy official said the group was found some 40 kilometers from the coast and were pushed back into the open ocean. “We took them food and water before pushing them towards a third country,†said the official. Thai media reported that they were found near Raja Noi Island in the Andaman Sea off Phuket Province. Thousands of Muslim Rohingya’s have been fleeing west Burma in boats to escape the violence clashes with local Buddhist communities in recent months.
