I think the Phuket Palace Resort will cover most of your points, it's clean very large rooms,it's secure and has King Size Bed, AC and TV, Safe in the room, the only minus it's a 10 min walk from the nightlife, but the hotel provides free transport within Patong, then it will have to be a Tuk Tuk home at 100 bath.

If you are interested you can PM me and I can get you a rate of 900 bath for 2 persons incl. breakfast. http://www.phuketpalace.com/en/main-en.htm

Royal Paradise (the really tall hotel) might be worth checking out.

Phuket Palace is a condo hotel, so we are many owners.

At the moment I'm in Denmark, and to make it perfect we have a snowstorm, I would rather be in Phuket, but we have our owners meeting late September each year.

There is still some units for sale if you are interested.

I always use a sight called phuketdelight.com

The guy has a section on Patong and many choices with photos and competetive prices. He uses the same secure reservation system as everyone else and has lived on the island for years.

Phuket Palace? If I remember correctly this was the place where a lot of the units were sold a number of times over until owners rolled up at the same time for a visit. LOL. One aussies unit was sold 5 times. A big lawsuit was on last I heard. Mind you it must be 10 years ago.

It is way back from the beach and like a housing commision block of flats. Forget it. :o

Try P.S 2 Hotel. Pool, air-con rooms with TV and nice pool. Well under 1000 per night in low season.

It is a bit of a walk to Bangla road but he beach is 5 minutes.

Phuket Palace, yes there was some initial problems concerning ownership of some units, but that’s 13 years ago, so why drag some old crap like that up now, a lot of things have changed.

Today we have a well functioning hotel, with a very nice pool, large 50sq/m rooms with 50 channel cable TV Air Con. And whatever else ca be expected from a 3 star hotel.

The two biggest tour agents in Scandinavia is our main customers, they give 3 stars for the hotel and 5 stars for the pool.

I would like to add that the hotel provides free transport within Patong area , but you can still walk to the beach in less than 10 min.

You shouldn’t comment on things you know nothing about. :D

I am unable to locate the place you recommend P.S 2 Hotel.

Most of my friends that are coming over are staying at the Expat Hotel and they are coming back year after year; it is right at the head end of Soi Bangla (very central!) and they make it a point to not charge a Joiners Fee (sadly a lot of other hotels have started to participate in this rip-off game).

The pool is always in the shade due to big palm trees in the garden, a very nice and realxed amosphere.

If you want a romantic room, with a seaview on the quiet side of Patong on the beach, try the Orchid Hotel in Kalim Bay

http://www.phuket.com/theorchid/

I usually pay 800 baht inc breakfast (low season) for Teerak and myself and also get free transfers if I stay for 3 nights or more.
