Burma’s military Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing met with Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Zeyathiri Beikman on Tuesday, military propaganda outlet Mywaddy reports. Vice-Sen Gen Min Aung Hlaing thanked his Thai counterpart for letting Burma participate in the Thai and US-led military exercise Cobra Gold on Feb 11-12. On the same day, Min Aung Hlaing also received Maj-Gen Ehud Shani (Schonwetter), Director-General of the Ministry of Defense of Israel. UK newspaper the Guardian reports meanwhile, that Britain’s military plans to establish defense relations with Burma’s military. Burma was under a brutal military dictatorship until 2011 and its army remains linked to human rights abuses. However, foreign militaries are keen to establish links with the Tatmadaw following recent political reforms in Burma.
