IrishIvan Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I just had the best Italian feed of all time at Da Maurizio in Patong. Can anyone recommend better?
KarenBravo Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Not an Italian food fan (except pizza), but, I hear Toto's at Surin / Bangtao is supposed to be the best, though, I don't speak from experience.
pagallim Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I didn't realise just how many Italians there were in Phuket before I started going to Cosa Nostra in Chalong. Small, but reasonable service, and seems to have a core customer base of Italians (probably tells you everything). Good thin base pizzas (though ask for extra cheese), and well made, not over cooked pasta dishes. A local, non tourist restaurant that's pretty high on my favourite restaurant list. Completely unsophisticated, but that adds to it's appeal.
bearpolar Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Dont forget that notra's prices are quite cheap. 200b for a decently large pizza that taste tons better than the main competition. They are the only pizza place in thailand that made me go back more than once.
Guest Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I had my best Italian food at Rome, Italy. Just next to the Vatican. But I can not not verify if it was original or not. I can not recall the name of the place, it was close to the corner. There is many different Italian foods and many tastes. How it would be possible to name one over others when not even naming the dish?
greenwater Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 I am italian and very passionate about food. I eat at restaurant from 2 to 3 times per week. Always in Italian restaurant except two time a months in Kan Eang Pier (Chalong). In Phuket there are some very good italian, often better of many restaurant in Italy. Da Maurizio was very good until the excutive chef was Italian (Paolo Fadda). Last time I was there they had no italian chef or cook in the kitchen. Still good but I think that the taste is not more authentic italian but little bit fusion. My favourite by far: Gaetana, Acqua, DaVinci, Capannina da Mario at Kata (not to be confused with others Capannina around Phuket). There are some more good italian with no great service and ambiance, poor wine list but good food: Renata (NaiHarn lake), M&M especially for pizza, Gastone at Kata.
wellred Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 The place with the wood fire oven over on soi Sansabai is good.
seabear Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Da Sandro. Had "Fegato alla Veneziana" (cow liver) two times. 1st time excellent. 2nd time OK. Excellent homemade ice cream. Friendly owner. Speaks Italian, Thai, and English fluently. Bacco Perbacco Open about 2 months. Good review on Tripadvisor. Will try it next week. Grand Prix Not a real Italian, but has good Tortellinis and excellent Risotto ai fughi. Mario e Meghi (M & M) Phukets best Raviolis! Excellent Vitello tonnato, and Carpaccio. Buongustaio excellent.Great location.

xylophone Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Eaten at many Italian restaurants in Patong over the years and can recommend........ La Capannina in Soi Nanai 2 for the best pizzas I have ever tasted. La Dolce Vita in Soi Patong Whisky (off the southern end of rat-u-thid road), excellent all round. Valerio & Luca restaurant in the soi opposite Soi Sea Dragon in Bangla Road for home made pasta dishes. 1

Enjoyed my pizza very much.... will go back.... maybe even today, thinking of it has made me hungry!!!
