Beautiful shot DL. Looks like bracket fungi which only grows on decaying or dead wood. They aid in the decomposition of the timber . It is amazing how nature takes care of itself !

A tree or knot a tree , was that the question ?

I believe that that is a tree knot .

A very tangled question I do believe , maybe a Banyan ?

Knot that I am a expert on this .

This used to be a rather knobbly tree...wink.png up in the jungles of Samui!

Around 25 years ago I passed a kidney stone....it kinda resembled this when it

went doink in the toilet bowl....all knoby & stuff! Painful? Nah....worse!
