Visa Run First Time March 12 Help?

Recommended Posts

Hi again - thanks for the replies.

My information is..........

I am from United Kingdom.

My passport is valid for a very long time (years)

I had no visa on arrival

I arrived in BKK thailand on 3rd February

I have already been to immigration to get an extra 10 days stay.

Must leave before 13th of March to renew visa

I wish to stay in Thailand for a very long time, months if not years.

My Plane ticket is to leave on 1st of july - but I can change that.

I have apartment etc.

I hope that is enough information.

Thanks again

Gareth

Forgot to mention - I am living in Bangkok near carrefour hoi kwang - not too far from MBK centre.

Try going to Penang at get a tourist visa with multiple entries.

You can get a 6 month visa for 200 ringit (2000 Bht). You will have

to extend your visa after 2 months at local immigration at the cost of 1900

Bht. This gives you 1 month more, then you can leave the country and come

back in. This activates the next 3 months.

Try popping over to Burma when extending your visa... lovely place!

Get a real visa...you'll come unstuck trying to meander across borders once a month for an extended period.

Hi again - thanks for the further replies - it sounds good - but please excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by 'real' visa or perhaps 'not real'?

sorry for not understanding and ...... Thanks

Gareth

a "real" visa is something which a Thai Embassy/consulate outside Thailand stamps/pastes in your passport (tourist/Non-Imm-O/Non-Imm-B etc).

When you enter Thailand you only get an "entry stamp" which allows you to stay in Thailand for a certain period of time depending on the type of visa you have obtained from a Thai Embassy/consulate.

A 30-day entry stamp is NOT a visa!

OK - Thanks for clearing that up for me!

so..... Can I just cross any border and return immediately for another 1 month stay? I would prefer this for first time !! I do not wish to work here and have no employment - I am still a little confused and I apologise - there is just so much conflicting information in my head at the moment!

Probably. But it is 'iffy' if you persist attempting back to back 30 day permits.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, Thanks for that dr.

I will go to Laos first time as i have some friends up that way.

I do wish to stay in Thailand for an indefinate time - i like it here.

I will take the advice for next time and perhaps visit Penang for two or four days.

Just a thought - Is there a company of ex-pats who offer visa run transport services or something similar? I feel such a company would be quite successful with the 'fear of the unknown' task.

Anyhow - sorry for rattling on and Thank You for your time and help - it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Gareth
