Lung Cancer Treatment In Thailand

Featured Replies

hello,

i am inneed of help regarding my father,s treatment in thailand.i am bangladeshi national, wishing to visit thailand hoping a good treatment in thailand.

can anyone give me an advice where (in which hospital?) can i get good treatment of lung cancer

with in affortable range of expenses.i really in need of this ans as my father needs immediate treatment.do anyone know the status of treatment at saint luis hospital?can you recommend any good specialist in this field?

thanks.

That is probably your best bet for affordable cost treatment as it is a very large facility so will have specialists and equipment for most any type of procedure. It is non profit so that costs are much lower than the main foreign hospitals but have good English language abilities. I have no personal experience and personally use Vejthani Hospital as it is closer to where I live and also reasonable priced but St. Louis is a much larger facility.

To advise you best I need to have some idea about how far advanced your father's cancer is. When caught very early, before it has spread, lung cancer can sometimes be cured through surgery -- in which case you need a hospital equipped to do thoracic surgery. However, if it is too late for that (which is often the case) then the only treatnment is radiation and/or chemotherapy, neither will cure but they can prolong life. For that you need an oncologist.

Have the doctors in Bangladesh been able to give you any idea about hwther the cancer is operab;e? Whether it has spread to any other part of the body? If you can tell me, I'll be better able to advise.

Sorry for delayed response, I was out of country for 2 days. From what you say and the biopsy report I assume there is no evidence of metastisis. As your father is only 56 years old and the tumor may still be stage I, it makes sense to come to Thailand as soon as you can in expectation of surgery to resect the lung. The doctors might also recommend a course of chemotherapy after the surgery.

St Louis Hospital is good. Another good hospital which is not too expensive (by Thai standards) is Phayathai 2 Hos[pital, which has the facilities for thoracic (chest) surgery. I will contact both of them to get a price estimate, it will only be an estimate but will give you some idea, and I'll let you know tomorrow. Good luck on getting the visa.

I contacted both hospitals, both can do the procedure. Cost at St Louis is a little less and it is a larger hospital so probably your best bet. You can contact them by their website www.saintlouis.or.th or email to [email protected]

The cost is likely to come to somewhere in the range of 100,000 - 200,000 baht (US $2,500 up to $5,000), they cannot be more specific until they've seen him. Best to figure at kleast $3,000 and possibly up to $5,000. Good luck

Hi,

Do you know is St louis equipment can compete with Bangkok hospital or Bumrungrat hospital equipment ?

Thanks.

The quality of their equipment is fine, no problem. The range is somewhat more limited i.e. they will not have much that is rarely used/highly specilialized. However for most problems and procedures this will not matter.
