FWIW Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I suppose this comes under the heading of entertainment. Anyway next month I will be hosting an overseas visitor for a few days. Much to my horror, my guest has explicitly requested an evening dinner river cruise as one of the activities. The guest (and I myself) are somewhat foodies, so can anyone recommend a not too awful dinner cruise? I have looked around, and frankly most seem the stuff of nightmares (hundreds of people fighting for re-heated food). Any help in pointing me in the right direction will be gratefully received. FWIW
Chicog Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 If you are foodies and you want to surprise the guests (and you're on exes), Mezzaluna at The Dome at Lebua Tower is hard to beat.

FWIW Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Try the "Mekala" on www.asian-oasis.com Sadly, that seems to be an overnight trip. At the moment looking at Loy Nava - rice barge trip, smaller numbers. Very mixed reviews though....
Falcon Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 For a decent trip up the river and good food, why not try the Shangri-la river cruise. The boat is called horizon and it is around 2,000++ per person for an international dinner. it leaves at 7pm with check in at 6:30 with a free cocktail when you board. This is considered the best river cruise available so maybe worth a shot. If you wanted to go further, you could go on the Saturday cruise which is a trip up to Ayuthaya and includes an international lunch. Leaves around 8am and arrives back at 3pm, its around 3,000 baht per person. 1

I don't know, how many people you are, but... 1
FWIW Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Thanks to all for their input. Hit the deadline to book, and so went with this: http://www.manohracruises.com/2012/index.php (wish I had seen the shang one though). Still, its only a couple of hours. Will try to remember and post a post trip report. Now just hope it does not rain!!!!! (just to give the info, the group is 7 people in all)

At the moment looking at Loy Nava - rice barge trip, smaller numbers. Very mixed reviews though.... My wife (Thai) and I went on Loy Nava a couple of nights ago. We both thought that the food (we booked Thai and Seafood) was very, very tasty and the staff were very friendly and courteous. The trip seemed a little quick (just under 2 hours) but, overall, we really enjoyed it. We went on the 7pm trip. - Good luck :-) (Sorry, had already posted and just saw that you had already booked) 1
