Hello,

I was thinking about to purchase a used small sail boat or small sail catamaran like Hobie Wave for a private use only.
Basically I just want to spend my free time with a family somewhere. And having a ride on your own boat sounds like fun to me.
But I was wondering if it's a good idea after all to purchase a boat...
Questions like storage, maintenance and difficulties to sell it afterward are my major concerns.
Maybe it's better not to go that far and rent it instead whenever you need it.
Could anyone share an opinion regarding this?

Wise concerns indeed. I have been, and still am, a happy husband, aircraft and yacht owner but unless you have lots of cash to burn there is a lot of truth to the old saw-

'If it flies, floats or f**ks - rent it"
