The missus has a sudden fixation with London so now she likes to go there for a couple of weeks as a tourist. Not only that but she expects me to accompany her :o

She's got her own money, house&land in Thailand etc. so when she applies for a visa will it be sufficient to show her bank balance, hotel booking in London and booking for return plane ticket or is it not as simple as that?

If required I could sponsor her but since I'm not british and we never bothered to get married I'm not sure if this would be relevant.

From the circumstances you've posted here, there's no reason why your missus shouldn't qualify for a visit visa by herself. However, as you'll be going with her, there's no harm in you writing a letter for the embassy's benefit stating the circumstances of your relationship, what job you do, in which country you normally work, and that you'll be travelling together.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Thanks for the reply.

I told her already I'll only accompany her if she goes somewhere august or september. :o

Had a look at the link and the only difficult questions seems to be evidence to return.

She's close to 50 years old so unless somebody gets a crush on her what reason would there be to stay?

She can show she has money, house and land? Where's the difficulty?

The difficulty is in the guidance -vistors (inf2) where they say you have to provide evidence to return but on the visa application there is no such question unless they expect you to mention that in section-10. Assuming that would be the case I'm thinking what she should write in section-10 regarding evidence to return because questions regarding money & other assets have been answered already in section 6.8 & 6.9.

The evidence mentioned in the guidence notes is not entered on the application form; it is supplied in addition to the application form.

She should supply documents to confirm her financial status, land ownership, etc. See What supporting documents should I include with my application?

Also, as Scouse said; "as you'll be going with her, there's no harm in you writing a letter for the embassy's benefit stating the circumstances of your relationship, what job you do, in which country you normally work, and that you'll be travelling together."

You say that you are not British. Forgive me if you have said before, but what nationality are you? Have you checked to make sure that you don't need a visa as well?

Thanks, it's clear now. We will attach all required documentation including the ones Scouse mentioned.

I have a Dutch passport so I guess I don't need a visa unless we get to kick your ass during the coming worldcup :o

For what it's worth here an update how things went. You guys were right; with her own money etc. there was no problem whatsoever. I offered to help with support letter but with typical thai hard-headedness she wanted to arrange things herself.

Fine by me so the application was submitted last week, together with evidence of money, land/house ownership and adress of a hotel where we're supposed to stay and yesterday she collected her passport with a visa valid for 6months. :o

Do you mind if I ask if your wife has a job in Thailand? As this is a good bit of evidence to show that you will return to Thailand.

Reason I ask is my GF is applying has Land and lots of money and owns car but no job.

I don't seem to worried for her as I have seen and heard numerous success stories over the last month or so for Thais with no jobs successfully getting VV granted to UK

Cheers Ash :o

No she doesn't work for an employer if that's what you mean.

She's fiddling a bit on the side with a car(incl driver) that she rents out to falang that like to do some sight seeing plus that she acted as a "middleman" several times selling land to real estate offices. In my opinion she's wealthy and doesn't have to bother but somehow she's always on the look-out to make an extra buck.

Initially that was the plan, her plan that is, cause I'm in no mood to go to the UK :o

However she came with the suggestion that she would go first, while I'm still at work so she could join her girlfriend who's somewhere in UK. So I ask her what you're going to do there then for a couple of weeks. Look for job is her reply so I ask her what job, you're not allowed to work there unless you want to go illegal and work in a restaurant kitchen or open your legs if you know what I mean. In either case you're out of your mind cause you don't need the money and who wants to lay an old bitch like you?

The last part did me in basically so what followed was a fvk you and silent treatment for a couple of days. :D

Anyway remembering the old saying "if you love something set it free. If it comes back it was always yours. If it doesn't it never was", I told her ok up to you, you go first and by the time my holiday comes up I'll join you or I spent the time in LOS by myself.
