I was wondering if anyone on here knows what the distance between the cones used for the test. The ones you have to weave between. I've found some figures for US and Canada although I'm not sure if they are for a test. They were around 3 - 3.5 metres or 12.5 feet I think. They also said the cones were offset about 2 feet. Another said practice at about twice the length of the bike and cut down to 1.5 times the length. of course this will depend on the bike.

I want to see how easily I can do this before I take my test here. Before anyone mentions it I realise it's dangerous here and I'm not thinking of going on a round Thailand road trip on a Scoopi i it's just that there may be the odd occasion I need to go to the market nearby. I wanted to get training in the UK before I came out but pressure of work stopped me so I may do it when I go back but if I can do the test here I can at least be a bit more familiar with the bike first.

I guess it may depend on the location. I've seen Youtube videos but they seem to be in Pattaya and although they help more info would be good. I'm just hoping the test questions will be OK but any info on them as well.

I'm in Mahasarakham so I'll be very lucky if anyone has done it there. I have done the colour and reaction tests for my car licence so I'm OK with those.

Go to Tesco Express.( there are many alternatives but this seemed simplest) Buy 6 bags of flour 180-ish baht find a deserted stretch of road or a parking lot. Arrange bags at 3m then 3.5 then 2.5 etc. 2 feet offset etc. Ride in and out of the cones for about an hour+. You'll be all set to go regardless of the cones on the test.

I've been going round tyres at the local school just I just wondered if anyone had done the test recently and could tell me. Does this mean that most people just pay for a licence? laugh.png

By the way I practice whilst the school is closed although it might be more realistic if I did it whilst it was open.

Thanks anyway

when i took the test in Nakhon Pathom.. no cones..maybe that is a one off for Pattaya as they need to learn how to weave in and out of the Russians WHO BY ALL ACCOUNTS ARE INVADING THE PLACE.

Much easier to go to a standard safety shop and buy the cones for about 200 baht each.

It does seem to vary a bit. I had to take a colour test to get my car licence (I already had one from the UK) I've seen some that look like the colour blindness test you have at the opticians with the coloured dots. Here in Mahasarakham it's like a set of traffic light with red, yellow and green lights coming up. Not exactly taxing, assuming you're not totally colour blind of course.
