Radio Link Cctv

Featured Replies

Thought I could find this easy but after a few days hunting about I still cannot find a source here on Phuket Island. So far I have tried BigC basement, 2 CCTV shops in Patong, top floor Jungcyelon. Still have a couple of CCTV shops in Phuket to check. I am tired of shops telling me to try this place or that place. Maybe some member knows of a shop that they know for sure has this equipment. Thank you.

What do you mean by "radio link CCTV?" Do you mean wireless CCTV cameras?

I mean a camera with a direct radio link transmitter to a nearby receiver which converts to composite video. I do not want another 'wireless' camera. The one I have gobbles far too much internet bandwidth. Years ago I bought this sort of system from Porn Electric in Patong. But since he moved to new road he does not carry CCTV gear. He points me to the local CCTV shops, but they no hab.

Sorry, I'm a little confused LIK.

A camera that uses "bandwidth" is a "webcam" or "internet camera." A wireless CCTV is not on the internet, therefore, doesn't use any bandwidth, but sends it's signal, wirelessly, to a base station which is then plugged into a DVR and/or a TV. This saves you from running cables, drilling holes through walls etc etc. The below link is what I am talking about on Ebay. You will see these camears can still use a cable, but can also work wirelessly. Of course, you need to use the power cable.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-4G-4CH-Wireless-IR-30LED-Night-Vision-Waterproof-4-CCTV-Camera-DVR-Receiver-/300879940727?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item460dd78c77

Of course, you can then plug the DVR into a modem and remote view (uploaded out of your premises) anywhere in the world.

Wifi camera should not eat any Internet bandwidth if it's done in the local network.

If you have a lot of local network traffic (for example movie NAS for customers), then it might be a good idea to have a second wifi router for the wifi cameras.

To be clear I do not want an internet style camera. I have that already. I want a local radio link cctv. I know I can buy on eBay. Just asking if anyone knows a local supplier. The receiver unit has composite video output which I can plug into my existing cctv dvr. I just want an extra mobile camera that I can move about. Thieves know where the fixed cameras are and cover them up.

My bad, sure no internet bandwidth but it sure eats up all the local wifi capacity. Leaving little capacity for my guests. Another router would be the way to go but it seemed cheaper for a one off cost cctv system with 4 channel dvr rather than a dedicated computer to read and record the video feed. The dvr method works well for my needs.

I agree, ready made systems should be cheaper, if you don't have old PC to be used for collecting and monitoring the data. However to make one from scratch would be a nice project :)

Anyway if when you are looking for new system, it might be a good idea to check if some of the models are able to upload images to the internet cloud service or similar. CCTV cameras with wireless transmission to the box. Box would send one image in 20 seconds or so to the server accessible from the Internet. This would have at least 2 benefits.

One to have some images in case the CCTV collecting box is stolen or destroyed by for example fire. Secondly you might have an access to the live feed while you are traveling.

Interesting web-site:

I clicked "Cancel".

I think it was just the annoying scrolling banner, nothing else.

Note for the everybody. Flash/shockwave is good for some games, nothing else.

Maybe so. But I would NEVER allow a website to run an application.

Since he is in the alarm/security business, I'm surprised he doesn't realise the effect that has on potential customers.

Never saw that, but since my Mac doesn't run .exe files, I guess I wouldn't. I just go to the site, no warnings... Check it on your mobile if your antivirus program doesn't block .exe files.
