Bangkok will only let Nong Khai extend their service to Khon Kaen if Bangkok is convinced that there are farangs who will use it.

Don't worry that if you really love the drive to Udon or Nong Khai you will lose out. You'll still be able to go there; but a lot of us would rather not!!!
