Phuket Songkran events round-up

PHUKET: -- With Songkran coming up this weekend, here's a list of events happening around Phuket.


– Splish-Splash Quest Songkran Fun at Laguna Phuket

A splashing good time is in store for kids at Quest’s water-filled Songkran Party on April 12, to be staged at a surprise location in Laguna Phuket.

The famous Thai water festival will be given new twists with exciting games and activities devised by the Quest team for kids aged five to 12 – including a fantastic slippery slope.

The fun is set to start at 2.00pm with registration at the Canal Village shuttle bus stop, then off to the party location. B300 per child.

– Bliss Beach Club Songkran Bonanza

This April 13, Bliss Beach Club on Bang Tao Beach is excited to be hosting the first ever Songkran Bonanza.

Free face painting provided by the Phuket Has Been Good To Us foundation coupled with bouncy castles and the Bliss pool will keep the children happy.

For the bigger children there is a fine selection of beverages, prizes to be won and an all day soundtrack provided by DJs from across the globe.

Price: Adults B500, children B300. Starts midday April 13.

– Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket celebrates Songkran

Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket has launched its Dusit Songkran Splash promotion to celebrate Thai Solar New Year 2013 throughout the month of April.

On April 13, they will hold a full Songkran festival programme, beginning with a celebratory religious morning session.

Continuing through to the afternoon, activities will include Thai folk dancing, a Thai Martial Arts show, a Som Tum cooking competition and traditional fun games.

In the evening, there will be a Songkran Thai New Year buffet dinner, showcasing the exciting flavours of Thailand’s four regions. The evening will also include Thai classical music, a Miss Songkran contest and performances by our resident band in a temple. Buffet dinner is priced at B2,400++ per person. www.dusit.com

– Songkran celebrations at Angsana and Xana

Angsana Laguna Phuket in collaboration with Xana with Attica invites guests to celebrate the traditional Thai New Year festival with a full day programme on April 13.

The activities are free of charge and open to the resort’s guests and outside visitors.

On the morning of 13th, the Songkran festival programme will begin at Angsana Laguna Phuket, where guests are invited to join a celebratory religious session at the Poolside Garden from 12pm.

The festivities will then continue with Thai dance and ‘water war parade’ at Poolside Gardens of Angsana Laguna Phuket at 1pm. Guests will then join the procession to Xana.

Xana will feature a host of fun-filled water based activities for families including a water war, a beach rain dance, Miss Songkran competition and Muay Thai performance. The beach activities will then culminate into a pool party where local DJs and EssentialIbiza’s Iain Thomson will be spinning tunes to celebrate Songkran from 3.15pm until late into the night.
