Are Bull Bars Legal Here?

Featured Replies

anyone had any idea would i face any legal or insurance issues if i had a bull bar installed?

only legal if the vehicle is owned and driven by a certified bull.

One thing you would have to look at would be if the crash/bull bar is for your vehicle. If it is not made to the manufacturers standards, the Air Bags may not work in the event of an accident.

I know that the Insurance companies in OZ will knock you back in the event of a front end crash, where you had a shonky bull bar fitted, as most are in Thailand.

Kee Kwai! Well only to be expected with the thread topic.

Most of the bars in OZ come from Thailand and are airbag compliant.

How do you know most fitted in Thailand are shonky ?.

I suppose one could equally ask how you know "Most of the bars in OZ come from Thailand and are airbag compliant."

Recon Bull Shit Deflectors are needed in Bull Bars. What a wierd thing to want. Like a Roo Bar i suppose, should it not be a Moped Bar here.burp.gif

Just thinking with Thailand's penchant for teeny tiny parking slots, even in new malls like Terminal 21, all I really need is another 8" to 12" of tube steel sticking out the front and on the corners.

Reminded me of the imported Chevy truck that we used in onshore oil exploration in Australia. Apart from the steering wheel in the wrong place, the Aussie manager reckoned it needed a bull bar so off it went to the local fabrication place. It came back with a huge piece of ironmongery that included a winch and a water tank. We noticed that the front chassis forks looked inadequate for all that weight so chose to take the wire off the winch and keep the tank empty. All went well until one day, the new trainee operator chose to fill the water tank and not tell anyone. All I remember was cruising down the A2 between Blackall and Barcaldine when the thing broke off and went under the truck at around 60 mph. I guess we were sort of airborne for a few yards after the bull bar punctured the diesel tanks, ripped out exhaust, brackets, transfer case and God knows what else and shredded 3 tires. Not a bloody bull in sight either.
