Import Race Car To Thailand

Featured Replies

Do I need a MOC permit if I want to import my drift car permanently to Thailand from Australia. Anyone know where I can find more info on importing my race car to Thailand. Thank you in advance.

You can't import a race car permanently, it has to be taken out of country every 6 months but if you're racing out of country too that shouldn't really be a problem and with that you have to post a very large bond on the car, refundable only once it leaves the country permanently. This is one reason a lot of foreign owned cars are actually based out of Malaysia where it seems it's a but more lax, though I honestly don't know how much more relaxed it is.

I think you are in the wrong place. You need to attend many race meetings and talk to as many people as you can until you find out what they do.

Yes, I only quoted the OP the legal position, it's certain there are other ways around doing it the legal way coffee1.gif ..

Send it over as parts.....but not in the same container.

Can't wait to see all those F1 drivers posting the same question on here in 2015.

Yep maybe that's who he is doing advance scouting and sourcing tongue.png .. Seriously though, doubtless few of them will be staying around behind the weekend anyways..

Whats a drift car, ? I hope not one of those things that go nowhere but produce burning rubber to thrill the ladies. coffee1.gif

Weeeeeeeeeeeell, I think getting a ride to reach over 120mph from a standing start over a mere 440 yards is far more thrilling than going round in circles in a parking lot. sad.png

I have to give some credit to drift drivers, it's not my bag but there is definitely skill involved in what they do and a deep tire budget..

Hmmmmmmmm, the company (I work for) sponsored race team brought in a race car from the states, it's been here for more than 6 months.

Like I sad before it's Thailand and I'm only quoting the supposedly legal position. But as always a little applied money there and suddenly rules are flexible for some..

Perhaps they can't get it out anymore ?

Also possible, like an overstay immigrant visa, I can't speak to a given case I can only speak to what is supposed to be the legal stance.. It's also possible it has been out of country for an event during that 6 month period and the visa was renewed or towed across the border somewhere and returned with a renewed visa, who knows for certain?

Isn't it a crazy situation in LOS where you hands are tied regarding stuff with wheels. It is so ridiculous that a ride must leave the country BUT can come straight back.So why go through all that expense for nothing but a piece of paper. Makes me angry when where I live a large percentage of rides have no legal documents and are totally unfit for the road, no MOT. All day past my place rusty old trucks clank, clunk, rattle, bang, shake, no lights cos never see a cop here. OK, thats my moan for the day. coffee1.gif .....................laugh.png

The Land of Blue Plastic Pipes, Shopkeepers and Rubber Stampers. What harm can a Race Car do too the Economy, makes yer puke all these rules.sick.gif

Unfortunately the rules, in their small minds, are all just moneymakers but in the long run they aren't as they are losing big money to countries like Malaysia who are more liberal but Thailand is actually more centrally located in Asia for a regionally based racing program..

nah it's not complete so it aint been anywhere.

nah it's not complete so it aint been anywhere.

But in that case it looks like it isn't a race car but a project to be completed in Thailand.

I heard old timers and alike are allowed to be brought in that way, to get restored here and then be exported again, but my understanding is that in such a case it is imported into a free trade zone where it has to stay all the time.

This...................... Not sure about the free trade zone requirement though..
