I Need An Idp (International Driving Permit)

I saw someone's comments about getting one (an IDP) from Chatuchak Transport Office. If I recall correctly he didn't need a Proof Of Address Letter ... Nonthaburi Imm have stopped issuing them ... confirmed again today and Pakkret Transport Office want one before they will issue me with an IDP, so it's an expensive letter from the BE unless the person concerned can say how he obtained his IDP without such a letter.

the comment may have been mine, and yes i have had a few IDP's from Mo Chit transport office only needed my PP, THB 505 and 2 photos in and out in 15 minutes every time...quick process. I do have a work permit, but they never asked to see it

and 5 year Thai DL of course..

Yes it was ... I have asked the question in the other topic.............just wanted to know what they asked for as proof of address.

My wife was told that a while ago someone got the letter and used it for something that they shouldn't have. I thought that this decision was for all immigration places. I too will have to get a yellow book ... Unfortunately I now have to go to the BE and get a copy of my passport with a letter confirming that it is me!! and a nice fee to the BE. Then take this to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and get passport translated and legalised ... the off to Pakkret Tessaban Offices with loads of other paperwork to get my book.

I have no idea what they will require from me to get a yellow book. I will do this before i need it as it will be a lot of problems to do when you need it.

But the excuse sounds like B.S. they just don't want to do the work as it does not pay anything..

Went today ..They either need a letter from your Embassy re address,Work permit or Yellow Book! BE Tomorrow to get a copy of passport stamped to say its me and then to MFA to get it legalised ... then head for Yellow Book Office.r
