Lite Beer
Prompong: PT MPs would not submit clarification statement to Constitution Court Bangkok, 6 May 2013, (NNT)-- Pheu Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit on Sunday explained why the 321 of his party Members of Parliament have not submitted the Constitution Court clarification letter, adding that they do not seek to pressure or intervene with the works of the court, but rather choose a peaceful means to express their disagreement with the court's decision.Mr. Prompong was referring to the 321 Pheu Thai MPs who submitted an open letter expressing their discontent with the Constitution Court judges regarding their decision to accept for consideration the petition submitted by appointed Senator Sochai Sawaengkarn asking the court to rule against the amendment of article 68 and 237.He at the same time urged the opposition Democrats Party not to take this opportunity to discredit the Pheu Thai party and its members, stressing that the move not to send a clarification letter is simply a legal disagreement; Prompong believed that the conflict would soon resolve itself in the near future. As for the planned demonstration of the Radio for Democracy Network on Wednesday, the Pheu Thai Spokesperson expressed his optimistic view that there would be no violence, reasoning that the demonstrators have learned from the past events. He also urged the Democrats party to support the charter amendment if it truly wishes to fight against dictatorship and to stand with the Thai citizens. -- NNT 2013-05-06
rubl
A simple legal disagreement, nothing personal. Just like a possible charge for 'contempt of court', nothing personal.I'm only surprised k. Prompong urges "opposition Democrats Party not to take this opportunity to discredit the Pheu Thai party and its members". Does this mean only other parties may do so? Also why suggest this 'discrediting of PT members'? Wouldn't "discrediting PT MP's" make more sense, if at all?BTW It would seem the Pheu Thai MPs already do a good job at discrediting themselves, no help from others needed. The next step is a law making it an offence to criticise the PM, proving the name is Shinawatra of course
Robby nz
He waffles more than a now ex MP used to do, possibly he is the replacement mouth. He also urged the Democrats party to support the charter amendment if it truly wishes to fight against dictatorship and to stand with the Thai citizens. If PT really thought that the "Thai citizens" were with them why didn't the take the charter change to a referendum?

Absolutely - this is a democratically elected PM and government, of the people, by the people and for the people. How dare anyone challenge their decrees, words of wisdom and make remarks about them. Pillars of democracy - freedom of the press, independant judiciary, impartial effective law enforcement, corruption free elections, etc. Nice to see a democratic government supporting democracy.
