I saw one about 4 years ago on the road from Chiang Rai to Mae Sai.

photographed from Hang Dong 11am 'ish.. although i imagine it would've been pretty much visible throughout the province. (i wouldn't have noticed it myself until Mrs G's sister pointed skyward & asked me, what's with the sun? )

nice photo Jose, now why didn't i think of that technique... several tall coconut trees right outside our front gate too.

The effect is from ice crystals in the atmosphere reflecting the light just like a rainbow, (which are circles if seen from the air and not the ground). Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
