hi, when our visa application was submitted i wasnt member of this board and quite frankly when i joined here and read the advice i was very doubtful about my wifes application

Our application wasnt water tight and we havent known each other that long

we had most of the paper work ,

1 conversations from msn...............no fone call receipts

2 bank statements

3 photos

4 copy of my title deeds

5 pictures of my house ,car, wedding, and some fotos of when i was with my wife in thailand

6 some utility bills

The application (sv) was submitted on 9th of march

wifey recieved 2 fone calls yesterday 22nd march

one sayin come in on 14th may for an interview and the other sayin opps sorry you can come in at your convenience mon, wed, thurs for a short interview

so i called the embassy and they confirmed short interview

so now to my question because yes imma sceptic

has anyone failed the short interview?

p.s imma scouser too lol :o

cheers <deleted>

'Short interview' means that the documents have satisfied the ECO so that s/he is 'minded to grant' the visa. She may be asked no questions at all, simply given her visa. If she is asked any questions, then as long as her answers are consistent with the documents; she will be given the visa. At worst, if the ECO is dissuaded from his/her previous view by her answers, then she will be asked to return at a later date for a long interview, but I have never heard of this happening.

She does not need to take any further documents unless she has been specifically asked to do so.

From our experience, my partner was only asked 4 questions at her short interview. My name, my age, where I lived and what I did for a living.

She did take in with her an extra phone bill and bank statement, but they didnt look at them and issued the visa there and then.

I will say though, that there was a gentleman waiting outside with me whos partner was also having a short interview. Unfortunately for her, she didnt have a piece of information with her that they wanted to see and she was asked to return for a full interview at a later date.

If you haven't done so already, I'd submit evidence of your employment in order to show that you can maintain your wife.

Other than that, someone has to really suffer from foot in mouth disease to "fail" a short interview.

Scouse.

Yes, it's a form letter sent to everyone.
or do they actually want more stuff?
Only if you didn't present everything with the application.

Congrats, good luck for the future.

Remember, in 2 years time, when she applies for ILR, your will need 10 'official' letters adressed to each or both to you (no more than 6 to one and no less than 4 to the other) for each of the two years. So get your utility bills etc put into joint names.

thanks lads

and i wish everybody else all the luck

as for the ilr

visa is dated 1st april but she wont be here till 21st april

i presume this is cool i can apply for ilr on 21st march 2008 ( as long as they recieve it b4 1st april 2008)..... then she is free to remain untill ilr is granted?

thanks again

Yep, she can apply for ILR once she has been in the UK for 23 months, so 21/3/08 is fine. Once the application has been recieved by the IND then her visa is automatically extended until the ILR decision has been made.
