PaulPerth Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Well guys, just goes to show! I sent an email this morning, to the general dfat email address, copied to our case officer and then a copy to the head immigration officer. Two hours later my wife got the call! They asked her to wait until Thursday before going in to get the visa so I guess they really are very busy just now. We are both on cloud nine now! Just booked the flight, they are arriving Perth 7am this Friday morning! Thanks guys, your advice and support helped a lot. I will carry on in your tradition and keep my presence on this site to support others where I can. Paul & Thip
Team Bukowski Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 awesome! congrats mate...I'm both happy for you and depressed for myself! Its only been 2 and a half months since we put in our application, too soon to start hounding the ECOs yet I think.

The e mails would not have been acted on in that time....you would have got the call today no matter what... Could you make that Saturday morning as My girl is arriving then on her second visit...
PaulPerth Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 Sorry Graham, every minute counts! lol I received a reply from Rob Chambers yesterday. Unfortunately our over efficient mail system at work detected it as spam so I missed it until I checked my SPAM folder this morning. I must say I was very impressed with Rob's concern and his intervention. I can empathise with their situation. But then again, it's a lot easier to do that once you have secured your visa and the anxiety and negative emotion has turned to elation by one simple phone call! Rob Chambers reply: Dear Mr Dennison Thank you for your email regarding your wife's spouse visa application. I am pleased to advise that a decision has now been made on your wife's case and I have asked the case officer to contact her as soon as possible to advise her of this. In relation to the issues you have outlined in the email below, I confirm that a very large number of applications are received in Bangkok and we provide all applicants with the average processing time so that they do not have unrealistic expectations about when they will be able to migrate to Australia. I understand that it is a stressful time for both applicants and sponsors when they are separated. It is not a matter of doubting the authenticity of a relationship nor the ability of a sponsor to provide for an applicant. Rather, as matter of law we need to check each case thoroughly to ensure that all requirements have been met and once that is confirmed, a decision can be made. I apologise if it appeared there was no progress being made in your wife's case but I assure you that we try to finalise all cases as quickly as possible. I appreciate your understanding of the workload here and can advise that there will be over 1000 visas granted in the spouse and fiance category from Bangkok this financial year. The large number of applications received and the additional issues which need to be considered in a number of these cases (eg: where health or character checks need further investigation) can unfortunately have an impact on all applications, even those cases which are relatively straighforward. Regards Rob Chambers Second Secretary (Immigration) Australian Embassy Bangkok I can't say that I wish I had sent the email earlier because we all have to wait a reasonable time for the process to take its course, but I am very glad I sent the email when I did! Thanks again to the guys on this forum for the information and encouragement. Paul

Mighty Mouse Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Excellent news. Congratulations. Nicely worded letter from Rob Chambers too. It seems that workload is one of the main reasons for any delay.

Jockstar Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 We only applied just over a month ago. So i guess we are in for another few months of waiting.
Ozspike Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 We lodged the paperwork on the same day we had the interview 21st April so we are 6 weeks in and I hope half way there, One thing I am not sure of is dose the clock start when the papers are lodged or when you have the interview, anyone know ?. In our case it was the same day but from other posts I seems to be about 10 weeks from interview or about 14 weeks from lodgment. Spike & Pui

Michael, i have contacted the embassy, from memory it was about 3 1/2 months after we lodged the application. the CO told me to wait six months all up as an approx time frame, but she did tell me that the visa was waiting to be viewed by an australian officer.. we have had no other dealings with the embassy (they have never called us apart from arranging our interview which was held on 14/02/06) In regards to the letter, it says 6 months
