What Is Needed For A Thai To Get A Motorbike Licence In Phuket

I have offered to take a young Thai friend of mine to the Transport office in Phuket this week so that she can get her motorbike licence.

I recently obtained both my 5 year car and bike licences from the office so I know about the test and the videos however I am unsure of what is required for a Thai if this is their very first licence.

So for a Thai applying for a motorbike licence:

1. What paperwork is required?

2. In addition to the tests given in the office, is there also a riding test required on the test track?

3. If a riding test is required IS IT POSSIBLE to rent a motorbike AT THE TEST TRACK on which to complete the test ride?

4. What are the costs for a Thai?

Perhaps there is someone out there who has recently helped their Tirrak get a licence and can answer the above questions.

Thanks in advance for any information.

It's exactly the same paperwork and cost for Thai and Farang.

1. Paperwork is copy of Thai ID and copy of Tabian Baan

2. Yes, riding test on the track.

3. I paid for the use of a motor bike taxi waiting at the licence center gate. 100 baht.

4. Cost same as a farang, can't remember, something like 200 baht for just the m/bike licence.

I also need to get a bike licence after getting stung for a 500 Baht fine yesterday. As far as the paper work goes, is a rental contract sufficient as I don't have a Tabian Baan?

Is there anything I need to learn about beforehand?

@metice

Lot's of previous topics on this. You need a certificate of residence from Immigration. Usually a copy of your rental contract is sufficient for Immigration to issue the CoR (+ the 500 baht 'fee')
