Hi Guys, been a while since I last posted............nothing with my life is simple :D

The plan WAS that me and the Missus get married back in Jan 2006, and then we were going to apply for a SV, but this did not happen and for reasons I won't bore you with will not be happening for a while.

BUT I have come up with great idea #231!!

I want to get her to apply for a Tourist Visa. Now in practice from what I have read she does not have a snowball in hel_l's chance of getting a Tourist Visa (to be honest if I was at the Embassy I would not give her a Visa..........but then again I have the advantage (disadvantage?!) of knowing her :o

My question is, would a refusal for a Tourist Visa have any impact on a later SV application? Something makes me think not, as they are 2 seperate events - but a bit of comfort on this point would be appreciated.

Just FYI the points that she would struggle on would be Reason to Return (of course), no real money, a "bad" character evidenced by a long (and not very varied :D ) criminal record.........and a propensity for violent outbursts when she doesn't get her own way..........but apart from all that she is a real sweety :D:D:D

Why would I want to go the aggravation of making her try for a Tourist Visa with no real prospect of success?........well, it would keep her happy for a start (see previous comments :D ) and also make her appreciate in practice that I CANNOT make EVERYTHING happen by magic / to help give her further incentive to be good :D............but also because I reckon stranger things have happened (well, possibly!), and if you don't ask, you don't get.

Whether a visit visa refusal impacts upon a subsequent settlement application will largely depend upon why the visit visa is refused. If, in refusing the application, the ECO, for example, challenges the basis of the relationship, then that would also be a consideration in a settlement case. However, if the visit visa were refused on the grounds of reason to return, obviously, that is not relevant to an ensuing settlement application.

I'd give it a shot if I were you. You never know, as the ECO would be issuing a visa for Jersey rather than the UK, he might not be as rigorous in his approach.

Scouse.

Faire enough, so you just added a bit of colour for descriptive purposes. :o

Have just re-read my response to you. It might be read as being a bit "funny" - wasn't meant to be. ooops :D:D:D:D

Cheers for the response - will let folk know how the Visa application goes............................
