I would like to visit Japan half of August, I can also fly to another city in Japan if that is cheaper. What is the cheapest airline to fly to Tokyo? I read about Air Macau.

If you fly to Tokyo does it matter which airport, Haneda or Arita airport?

Depends on where you are staying in Tokyo whether Haneda or Narita, I prefer Narita just because the bus limo service drops me right next door to the hotel. I usually by a Thai Airlines ticket as it is the least expensive when you buy in Thailand.

Another thing to remember is getting around by taxi is very expensive try to avoid, the subway system is good but sometimes hard to figure out unless you read Japanese.

check these airports (in Japan) if any flights from Thailand departs to>

BKK to; airlines to check are; JAL, ANA, AirAsia, UA, Delta, Thai,/ also via Taipei are; China airlines, EVA airline/via Seoul are Asiana, Korean air

1) Narita

3) Nagoya

4) Osaka a) Itami or New Osaka international airport

5) Fukuoka

if you are using a different airport other than Tokyo (narita / haneda) you should look into buying a Japan Rail pass (unlimited rides on all JR lines) offered at any JR stations-ticket office like

Tokyo, Marunouchi, Shinjuku, Shibuya etc. This pass can let you board on the bullet train -shinkansen. Usually passes are good for 1 week, 2, week, etc. When you are buying the pass be sure to plan out your trip and days of usage.

Do you know Asakusa metro station?Will you agree that it is very touristic place - with that famous temple,river and new TV Tower?You will find,that diagrams of metro network there are - in local language.Most sites are in Japanese,English you will see often but not everywhere.It is even worse in Osaka,where network is more confusing.It is easy to get lost.

The worst thing is when you forget the location of your luggage locker;you will find it eventually - if you did not lose the key as well,but you may miss your flight.

You have to look around a bit there is always a English map too.

Many of my friends who visited Japan on individual tourist trips were positively shocked,that it is so easy

to travel there and find your way around.All expected great problems,they did not have any.They were also surprised,that it was not so expensive - Hilton in Narita today is less then 100$!
