KANCHANABURI: -- Police yesterday said that security camera footage had captured a possible suspect after a brick was thrown at a moving pick-up truck in Kanchanaburi's Tha Maka district last Saturday night.

A passenger in the truck, Kasetsart University engineering student Jenjira Thongchai, 18, suffered a serious head injury in the incident, which occurred on the Khamphaeng Saen-Phanom Tuan Road.

After presiding over a police meeting about the case yesterday, Kanchanaburi police chief Klomsanti Klanbutra presented the bloodstained 2kg brick to the media, as well as footage recorded by Tambon Phra Thaen village headman Siang Sabchatuporn's personal security camera. The footage showed a young motorcycle rider without a helmet passing the scene at the time of the crime.

Commenting on a possible motive, Klomsanti said it may have been a teenager's reckless action but it could have been an attempted robbery, with the culprit intending to cause an accident and rob the driver but hitting the passenger instead. Police have contacted village headmen and kamnans in nearby areas urging them to look for the suspect, who could face a charge of attempted murder, he added.

Offering sympathy to the victim's family, Provincial Police Region 7 chief Hanpol Nitwibul yesterday said he had assigned Pol Maj Gen Sutthipong Wongpin to help with the investigation and called for the speedy arrest of the suspect.

Meanwhile, the victim was transferred from Nakhon Pathom's Sanam Chan Hospital to Bangkok's Phra Mongkut Hospital yesterday. Her condition was described as stable following brain surgery. Sanam Chan Hospital director Dr Songchai Srirojanakul said the victim's skull had been severely damaged but her eyesight had improved after surgery. He said she was recovering.

Isn't amazing that with the very minimum of information the BIB mange to come up with a motive and sometimes it's even multiple choice as with the missing tycoon and the Ramkamheng bomb.

There's nothing wrong with saying the motive isn't clear at such an early stage but the BIB seem to think it makes them look bad not being able to nail things down in no time flat whereas as it only makes them look the fools they really are.

Disgraceful action by the thrower, maybe without realising consequences. Happens in Oz from freeway crossovers sometimes and it can kill. Young blokes being devilish without (I hope) fully realising the damage that can result.

Why would they publish the exact hospital the person is recovering in?

No statement from the hospital without a bit of free marketing exposure? Claiming their 5 minutes of fame?

It's a report appearing in The Nation. Can we be sure that they got the name of the hospital correct even?

Why would someone throw a brick at a car?

I feel sad when I see innocent people who are just living life get struck down by idiots.

I hope Jenjira makes a fast and complete recovery.

This happened not too far from where we live on quite a busy road that seems to have more than it's fair share of idiots on motorbikes late at night.

Hope they catch whoever did it and that he is made to pay the price for his crime.

Lucky lady, let's hope she makes a complete recovery and I hope the police catch the little prick that threw the brick.

Not to worry, the police under the supervision of DPM Chalerm will catch all wrongdoers.

The BIB are speculating at teenage recklessness or an attempt to make the truck crash so a robbery could take place which seems a very complicated way to rob someone, so many easier ways.

Nothing was said about the drive, age or sex, but the unfortunate victim is a pretty 18 year old girl and the assailant supposedly a young man so there could be an aspect of love and jealousy.

Anyway let's hope he's nailed and soon and the best of wishes to the poor young lady.

I hope she will have a speedy and fully recovery.

Exactly what had happened in Ubon Ratchathani many years ago, Kids threw stones in windshields. Those people who stopped, got killed by bigger boys, who took all their stuff, threw the dead body away and sold the car in Laos.

Took the cops a long, long time to find these m-f's.-wai2.gif

Yep, even if the BiB caught him and put him in jail for a few years I would wait until he got out. Just saying, he would not be happy to see me.
