You're asking for cheap but all dairy products in Thailand are more expensive than in Western countries.

Cheapest butter i know of is in Yok, the baking supply shop. It's in 1 kilo blocks and you can cut off what you want and freeze the rest. Works out about 20% less than buying small blocks in Supermarkets.

Bulk butter is 130 to 140 baht a kilo (it comes in a block) at Yok, either salted or unsalted which is about the best price around. I cut the kilo block into eight individual blocks, wrap them in cellophane wrap and freeeze them, then take out a block every time I need one.

I agree with the other posters Yok when buying by the kilo is cheapest. If you don't know where Yok is its on highway 11 (superhighway) between Macro and Big C but on the other side of the road.
