Son of Bangkok 'Mafioso' threatens lawsuit against ex-girlfriend

Keeping it real, she's fairly fortunate that this wasn't 'settled' out of court.

As for all the frustrated 'if it were my family member' comments, that's no different from anyone else who loves their family... the difference is that some people have the power and connections to make good on those 'feelings' without fear of repercussions.

It seems that the bigger story, in the Thai news, is that she didn't just bring this up for vengeance. She supposedly went to a womens' protective organization because she felt her life was in danger, then this hit the press.

And while it's nice that the organisation takes her in, by getting the press involved without placing a formal report with police had now left the poor girl looking at a defamation case.

He insisted that he resorted to violence because he loved her very much

He has no idea of the meaning of the word. He epitomises one of the bad characteristics common in so many Thai males.

Is this the same guy? Has he already served the 2 year sentence he received in 2010?

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/379592-thailand-live-thursday-1-jul-2010/

BANGKOK: -- The son of Paijit "Por Pratunam" Thammarojpinit, Boonsit, was yesterday handed a two year jail sentence for conspiring with 10 others to assault two men and damage property at a Wang Thong Lang bar in July 2008.

The Criminal Court halved Boonsit's jail term and released him on a Bt120,000 bail.

According to the indictment Boonsit and the 10 others, who are still at large, assaulted Krisada Srisopon and Pravit Boonpornpimol, coowners of the Yahaii bar, and caused Bt33,025 worth of damages on the night of July 12, 2008.

The court didn't suspend Boonsit's sentence because it was considered daring and showed a disregard for the law and hostility to the victims.

Boonsit has claimed that he has compensated the victims, that it was his first criminal offence and that he had to take care of his family.

Does anyone seriously think this little toad walks around without the protection of tooled-up bodyguards? The hi-so/mafia types always have a private little army to help do their dirty work. Commiserations to the young lady but in my many years in Thailand, I've noticed it's somewhat of a trend for model/beauty/pretty types to associate with police/army/mafia (same thing really!) types. Not saying she's to blame in any way but if you lie with dogs...

Some due diligence was needed before she hooked up with a mafia guy's son with a history of spouse abuse.

The pathatic little pri.k is probably out with his drinking/doper buddies this weekend , bragging about how he has everything taken care of, no more problems from that little snitch. Lets go find some new conquests and party.

If it was my daughter, sister or mother, he would seriously have to watch his back.

Exactly what sort of business are your mother et al in?

These things are never black or white. I have no evidence whatever and I'm not making any assumptions at all, but sometimes:

- The glamor factor and / or cash factor overrides peoples judgment, in any country.

- There are people from all countries who enjoy the drama / even enjoy the violence.

Who knows?

I feel sorry for the girl that got beat up,no excuse for that!

On the other hand she must have known what she was doing when she decided to stay with him,his divorce was all over the news and surely all Thais know about it.

Maybe, just for a little bit, she was enjoying the status and feeling of power that came along with it?

I have never been able to understand why some women stay with guys that abuse them, men who assault women are total losers in my eyes but some women are not smart if they get involved at all.

another brave thai man,god there super tough here,,i was lambasted yesterday on a topic about domestic violence,,when i said its better to intervene than walk away,,,,,i despair at people who do this kind of thing and think its normal

Like I said in the previous post today these brave Thai men who beat on women and are proud only do it in their own country. We have many here in America who are not so brave and act normal I guess because they know they cannot get away with their BS and bribery when they act stupid, unless you are a Thai diplomat of course.

These threads are strange. You guys can't have it both ways. Either you love Thailand because everyone is poor and there are no rules and rich people can do whatever they want, or you don't. It seems most of you want to keep the poverty - and cost of living - but also want Western style democracy and rules. In that case, sure, go to Singapore or Hong Kong - but you can't afford it. See what I mean? Which is it? You want it both ways. Jump from one topic about how PC the West is and into another topic to bash Thai domestic abuse.

So if she took this beating years ago why did she decide to stay with him all this time?

It's not always easy for girls (and sometimes guys) to leave <deleted>. There is a lot of emotional abuse that can go on, and often threats of violence.

Okay, I agree. It is not okay. So how should Thais get rid of domestic violence? I don't think the TV audience will like how that process works. The same way they won't like how the process of getting rid of street children or cheating police officers works.

Another sissy hard Thai man who could manage to beat up a woman or even a child if he wanted and all this without the help of his friends or a gun he must feel so tough and powerful, and with a third world corrupt justice system having the final say he will probably be free to beat up another woman soon.

It is a popular sentiment perpetrated by mass media that these type of guys are sissies. In reality, they are more likely to be sociopaths and contrary to the wishes of all, they probably don't get very "scared" when someone stands up to them.

I am no Thai apologist. I just don't understand all the guys who want a gf half their age but don't get that all the things they complain about - like this topic - are a byproduct of the poverty that allows them to have that young gf in the first place. What they really want is to have their cake and eat it too.

Speak for yourself matey.

Be with who the hell you like, just don't believe this somehow gives you the right to beat them up.

We can actually consolidate a list of degenerate low-life offspring that have used daddy's clout to get them out of a tight situations, namely:

- Cop killer son of a pink bentley owner

- Cop killer grandson of a certain energy drink empire

- Womanbeater son of a mafioso type

- Son of a model driving a mercedes benz

I truely believe the world will be a better place, once the above are whipped, castrated, defecated upon, and then left to be eaten by salt-water crocodiles.

Who can't afford to live where?

Why is it that Thai apologists cannot take any amount of criticism about Thailand no matter how deserved or accurate?

It is like they live in an alternate reality and yet to wake up to the matrix.

I'm typing this on the MRT in Singapore on my way to work BTW, so that's another hapless theory shot down in flames.

All of those mentioned are delinquent (perhaps that word is too mild), and should be punished, but somewhere in these cases keep in mind that all of them are products of a certain upbringing which has strongly encouraged them to believe they can behave however they want, and to believe that they have special entitlement to behave outside the standard expectations of society, the law, etc. And the parents in all of these cases have also breached the boundaries of a civil society, and believe that they are entitled to do that.
