Where to buy Dates in bulk?

Featured Replies

I have looked around the different supermarkets in Samui and can only find Dates at Makros in 1kg boxes. When I have been on the mainland I have seen many Date palm plantations, so I was wondering if you can buy Dates in bulk on Samui somewhere.

Please any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

Date Boy

I suspect the date palms that you've seen growing are the palm oil variety but to answer your question they always seem to have them in Big C but i'm not sure if they exceed 1kg packaging.

Bulk are you talking about 5 KG or 100 KG, are you talking dried, fermenting? They have them loose in Bangkok at Emporium, different varieties, but will laso cost.

nothing will beat nour deglet dates, ask a friend to bring them over :)

looking at this heading i thought this was going to be interesting about bulk dating. i am shamed later potatoes

Every year at Christmas during '70s was a pack of bleeding dates.

I'm sure there's some industrial use for them.

Kimyong market in Hat Yai may be the place, if you're heading down that way. Along Phetkasem Road (outside of the actual market) are sellers of dried fruits. Inside the market there's probably more sellers.

The prices are clearly displayed so there's no dual pricing there.

can also try Schmidt in Lamai (on the ring road a little further south from the Post Office, same side of the road) - they specialise in baking ingredients for the catering trade and sell things like dates in larger quantities.

If you go to Surat go to the market not far from the night boat terminal they are in a 500g box called Natural dates from Tunisia.and they are imported via Malaysia. A few years ago it was possible to buy in bulk but they need washing.

Think you are correct, those palms would be Palm Oil trees, not Date Palms !

To MaiPen Rai 007.................Found your dates...................Main street Naton there is a market half way down on left hand side. The shop selling fruit & veg on the street entrance has DATES in bulk, you can buy by the KG.

You can buy dates in bulk at the big market in Nathon at the western end, first shop in.

Think you might be referring to the same place as in my post previously. The stall on the main road no need to go in !
