Khaosan rd & Patpong

Featured Replies

Went to Safari for the first time and found it exactly as described on here. Friendly, relaxed, honest and nobody bothers you (unless you want them to).

Forgot to add that it probably has the cleanest and best toilets in Patpong. Can be important at times.

You don't need to leave the first half of Soi 4. It has everything you could possibly ask from Thailand - girls, beer, hotels, fine food, culture, greenery and people watching. It's like a microcosm of Thailand. I've spent months in BKK and never left the end of Soi 4.

Khao San is more about the streetside drinking although they do have some bars around there. Rambuttri (the part of it running parellel with KSR) also has some 'bars' with live music

There are hookers and ladyboys around there these days but it's not like Sukhumvit. Ladyboys too, especially late, late night. That Gullivers on the corner used to be a busy bar but down the years become overrun with working girls

A lot of westerners walking around shirtless with a big Chang, thinking they invented 'travelling'. It can be a bit much in KSR itself compared to other streets. Phra Arthit (near the canal bridge/fort) has some more Thai style bars for casual drinking, live music too
