The Farm - perfect mancunian riffs

The Smiths - good mope music. Morrissey is something you grow out of but Marr keeps bringing you back again and again forever.

Happy Mondays - Bez is the best dancer ever

Stone Roses - best band ever. FULL STOP!

Soup Dragons - one hit wonder but classic club hit

Billy Bragg is brilliant but different genre. Spent 2 hours with him in '91 discussing the fall of the USSR.

Oasis is brilliant. Every band wants Liam's voice and Noel's talent. If this is your start go back another 7-8 years and I'm sure you'll hear more of what you like.

Charlatans are gods

Blur vs. Oasis. hmm Blur

Supergrass is the best live show I've seen

Electronic - how can Bernard and Marr go wrong together?

Manic Street was beyond their peers

Jesus Jones was a one hit wonder good dancing song

Pixies are great but wrong genre

Peter Murphy is as big an icon as can be but not an indie club hit maker

WOW Ani Difranco - pure crap unless you're a donut bumper.

The other bands mentioned by Thaibebop are good but fall into indie alternative not Manchester indie. Radio Head would be ok here as would a few Sonic Youth songs.

Pop will eat itself had a few club masterpieces

Neds Atomic Dustbin is worth another listen if you haven't in 14 years. They were better than i remembered at the time.

Ride is often overlooked but they were brilliant and perfect

Lush was a perfect name for those coke snorting girls. They had some wicked songs.

Northside is one of my favorites to play at the club. Take 5 is brilliant

What about Chapterhouse, 808 State, Blue Aeroplanes, Kitchens of Distinction, candy skins, carter the unstoppable sex machine, curve, Housemartins, jesus and mary chain, Kula Shaker, Primal Scream, Pulp, Suede. remember That Petrol Emotion? Five Thirty? Ultra Vivid Scene.

Not bad for an American huh?

So the question is are there enough 24 hour party people to support a Madchester night in BKK?

This page is a fun read.

James Who?

the band 'James'.

biggest hit was 'sit down'.

"ohh sit down, ohh sit down, ohh sit down,

sit down next to me"

:o

Sorry, it was a lame attempt at humour! Like when someone says they are hard of hearing and you say 'pardon'...

Shameful I know!
