Dramatic assassination attempt on Thai official captured on CCTV

This has the appearance of a staged event. Of course he would not know who did it. If he revealed that the surprise would be spoiled.

Yes I am considering doing the same myself, have somebody shoot at me 7 times through bullet proof windows from a foot away

Have you considered what might happen if the glass broke?

I see some silly statements on here but that one tops the lot

The enforced glass was really good, because most bullet proof glasses dont take more then 3-4 bullets at the same spot, also depends on the gun type. The assasins knew he had bullet proof glass. but it seems 7 shots were not enough to pass through.

Wrong hand gun used for the job. I say no more.

Next question - why was Paiboon visiting Kamnan Poh?

I don't suppose it occurred to the reporter, or perhaps he considered it to be too personal to ask.

The answer to that may help with the earlier question.

if someone asks you just answer you don't know, and what you don't know doesn't hurt you

Man, that's crazy. The hit man was pretty nonchalant.

I read Paiboon is Somchai's assistant. Is he also a government official? I can find that out.

Was this another Facebook hire ? A professional would have done his homework and known about the bullet proof windows.

Nah, this one was an amateur. The next one will know more than this one.

You will find him trying to buy uranium tipped anti-tank buster missiles on e-bay, just to make sure, of course!!!

Since he has bullet proof windows, he must have some idea of who is after him.

Not really - he was just generally paranoid, probably with good reason/s !

Amateur. Most likely the car had only bullet proof windows... Easy to shoot through the door or roof, one would think.

Not logical.

Why isn't this logical??

If someone knew that the chances of them being burgled was high as a known criminal gang was in the vicinity that specialises in stealing the self same thing that he has in his possession then I think it would be advisable for him to invest in a burglar alarm!!

I noticed that this was your 555'th post by the way!!

I am surprised that after realizing the glass was bullet proof, that the assassin did not simply starting shooting through the roof. I really doubt that the entire car was armored, that is head of state level of protection.

Is it my imagination , or does there seem to be a lot of assassinations here??

A shooter knows his job if he is a good one. The shooter knows the windows are bullet proof. This is terror. The job is done.

Next question, why did he have bullet proof windows in his pick-up ?

Obviously the guy sees himself as a target.

Why did i see this news a few days ago already in a foreign newspaper along with the footage?

Seems a bit strange to me.

this video should be removed, it damages the reputation of Thailand, not however the Thai? manufacturer of the bullet proof glass.

I guess a good old-fashioned Mafia hit is a lot cleaner than an angry taxi driver with a machete whistling.gif

A mafia hit does not shock me; coffee1.gif

Hacking up a foreigner on Sukhumvit Ave does! w00t.gif

The miracle is that the shooter didn't hit himself with ricochets. And I bet ten bucks that the car door wasn't even locked, should have thought to open the door once he realised the window wasn't shattering.

Between the Keystone Cops and now The Beagle Boys, it's a riot a minute in the Thai criminal scene. coffee1.gif

Your known/judged by others by the company you keep. A good vest and a few body guards may be the next purchase for this fine example of Thai politics representives.

As others have pointed out no way was this a fixed CCTV camera - also since he was so close why did the "gunman" wait until he had got into the car before shooting. Oh and look at the area of glass that took the bullets - he must have been aiming at the dashboard......for me the only question is "why does he want the world to know he was visiting a mafia boss?" seems odd but I am sure there must be some profit in it.

Correcting a couple of misconceptions. There is no bullet-proof glass there is bullet-resistant glass as all of them can be penetrated with the right item. 2nd, bullets actually embed into bullet-resistant glass rather than ricochet due to the plastic/glass lamination. If any do bounce back they would have lost most of their momentum due to the absorption property of the glass.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I will not test your theory out. laugh.png

Just saw the video. The assassin was a professional. Gun with a silencer...takes a shot and understands he's shooting at bullet-proof glass, fires a cluster of shots at the inside door lock trying to punch threw to open the door, doesn't work and beats a hasty retreat. I bet they didn't find this guy on Facebook whistling.gif

Would've been hilarious if one did get through the glass and one ricoched off killing the gunman also, double bonus points!!
