A bizarre story now from the Central Pattaya Intersection with the Sukumvit Road. Police Lieutenant Colonel Prichar from Pattaya Police Station was assigned to this minor road accident which highlights an ever present danger on the road of Pattaya, that being drunk driving regardless of the time of day.

The story begins when Khun Padeart aged 42 was waiting along with other drivers for the lights to turn green. The lights changed; however, the driver in front of him failed to move his vehicle and appeared to have fallen asleep. Use of his horn aroused the driver of the car in front of him who inexplicably drove in reverse and collided with Khun Padeart’s car.

The Police were called and found the clearly intoxicated driver; Khun Tawatshai aged 30 fast asleep in the driver’s seat. Eventually he woke up and was escorted into a nearby rescue vehicle. Evidence of his drinking included an empty bottle of cheap whisky in the back of his pick-up. The man was charged with drink driving and was transported to Pattaya Police Station along with his poodle who was oblivious to the commotion.

...but not quite as oblivious as his master :o

The scary bits is they will likely just let him sleep it out and let him go.

I'm in favor of mandaroy one year in jail for first time offenders of drunk driving, and loss of the car. For second time offenders, I'm in favor of LIFE in prison, and loss of the car. I think that's fair.

From the pics I've seen, most of your customers are too drunk to walk, let alone drive ! :o
