Paternity leave

Featured Replies

Does this exist in Thailand? Is their any allowance for it under the law?

Yes, by law you should get 45 days off with full pay and another 45 days unpaid. If you are in social security I believe social security pays the extra 45 days, but I'm not sure. Some employers will of course give the full 90 days of pay. But law is 45 days paid by employer and another 45 days that doesn't have to be paid.

Thats great news!

I assume, as I am employed & working in Thailand, that these laws apply to me?

Yes, 90 days leave and at least 45 days paid applies to you.

Are you sure you are not confusing this with maternity? Those figures are correct for mothers, but I am not sure there is any mandated paternity leave. I am sure it is not the same as maternity figures though!

You are correct, I'm confusing maternity with paternity leave. indeed not the same. (Didn't drink coffee today).

The Thai government announced a 15 day paternity leave last year, but only for civil servants. And I'm not sure it is in effect already.

Nothing for dads.

Do you pay thai social security?

Pagkan sonkom.

If you do you can get some money from them
