Do Thai Betel Nut Babes Need an Upgrade? If We Want To Start A Thailand Franchise?

Now I know what you're thinkin',

Here he goes again, on one of those less then concrete tangents away from what he is really driving at.

But no, not this time.

This time I just have a very simple question,

Just like some of you have been forever asking on various forums, almost ad infinitum, where you can find a certain cheese,

Or who is selling those folding glasses in Chiang Mai,

Where can I get suspenders that won't loose their elasticity,

Or, where can I find a shop in Patayya that sells a certain kind of pizza with a thick crust and no corn on it, like you find in Asia sometimes.

So now I want to know where do you find that good betel nut in the Chiang Mai vicinity?

And if not Chiang Mai, then another city.

And more than this, I do not want to buy my Betel nut from just any old vendor, but from a babe with a touch of class.

Not only do I want to buy my betel nut from a babe with some umph but I want to talk to her about the weather in Thai, to practice what I learn in class.

Because as we all know, it is good to practice Passa Thai with anyone who will give you the time of day, it is like language that you do not need to even think about or translate, the Thai comes in, and then the Thai goes out, to anyone willing to listen, like Thai Betel Nut girls.

Now we all know from life and living that everything we see is on a continuum, either an "S" curve, or maybe a power curve of some sort.

And, in order to know who are the really good betel nut girls, then we need some sort of standard to go by.

We also know that Thailand has many imports from many countries.

I guess most of you are familiar with the large number of Bubble Tea shops from Taiwan.

And then there are steak shop franchises and, what have you.

But so far, I am wondering if any of you have yet seen the import in Thailand of the Taiwan Betel Nut girl?

And if so, where, please.

Because I really want to go see.

These girls are not what some might think, at first glance?

They sell soft drinks, cigarettes, and lighters, and, of course, betel nut.

But they definitely do not sell what some of you might be thinking, and so I will not even mention it here, because it is degrading.

I am just looking for someone here to tell me where to find the closest thing to the Taiwan variety, and to tell us how they may operate their shops in Thailand. And, please, let us not be prudish, and let us not giggle like children about what some of you might misconstrue as being a racy topic, which it definitely is not. The reason I posted this in the Pub is only because I prefer the company here in the Pub, not because I do not want to know where one of these betel nut girls might be in Chiang Mai, or another city.

The other point being, that I wonder if any of you have taken photographers of some of these shops, or the closest thing to them which is now in Thailand? Because there is one or two professional photographers from South Africa that have been photographing and publishing these images for the past 7 or 9 years.

OK, so basically here is the drill so that there is no confusion:

1. I am going to show you 1 (one) short video clip of a Thai Betel Nut girl I found on YouTube.

2. Next, I am going to show you 1 (one) video clip of a Taiwan Betel Nut girl(s) I found on YouTube.

3. I am going to ask fellow members here to please submit comments which address the questions:

a. Have you seen any Thai Betel Nut girls that look more like the Taiwan Betel Nut girls? If so, where?

b. Have you talked to any Thai Betel Nut girls, and what was their dialect?

c. Do you think that it would be possible for someone in Thailand to begin a chain of Thai Betel Nut girls just a little more similar to the Taiwan variety, and what might be the advantages, and would there be much good and profitable business that might result?

d. Do you think it would help our Passa Thai to hang around with the Thai Betel Nut girls while they make their betel nuts for sale, and then sell them? Because this might be one of my interests, besides possibly opening a chain of these shops while I am here.

I want to thank you very much for your kind consideration, and forbearance, while I have explained all the above clearly.

And now, without further blah, blah, blah, here are the two short YouTube videos.

And after that, please just comment per the aforementioned guidelines and questions.

Thank you.

(One thing we DO NOT NEED is to have someone derail this very worthy Topic! (Including me, so don't get me goin'))

Thank you. It is a part of the culture, and, it is fun!

Please watch the Thai Video on top, first,

This one is more fun to watch, and will make you smile.

Then the juxtaposition of the Thai and Taiwan videos is rather striking and memorable, you will admit.

But please do not worry, you will not see any more in the Taiwan video than you see on your favorite beach in your home country,

It is just that it is a little unnerving to see girls wearing bathing suits while they sell cigarettes to truck drivers in the center of Taipei, and in the countryside of Taiwan.

And if we cannot find good examples of Thai Betel Nut girls in some cities,

Then what other products might be marketed approximately the same way

With good success?

I am not arguing that the two cultures are the same.

I am just arguing that probably the truck drivers are the same in both countries.

And there might be a buck to be made with a franchise similar in nature.

Don't worry about irritating me if you decide to steal my idea and rush it to market in Thailand.

I am very understanding about that,

And business is business.

And boys will be boys.

Thailand doesn't need to follow Taiwan. It has other places where girls in revealing outfits will take care of your nuts. :)

Always with this strange unique slant on things.

Is this your trademark or something?

(Sure, as it was said in the film Platoon, "Everyone's got one.")

But this time,

Through the glass darkly,

Perhaps?

Why would a girl play with a beetle's nuts? And how do they do it differently in other countries?

I thought for a moment the pub had lowered the bar (rolleyes.gif ) and we were into a bestiality thread. Just found the glasses..............tongue.png

One half-full, one half-empty................

No you reasoning and illogicalness are just both too simultaneously opaque and apparent and twisted that we cannot even provide a like here.

But I wish that you might at least attempt to answer the questions above, for example what is the closest thing to the Taiwan style betel nut seller have you seen in Thailand, and I of course do NOT mean in some bar district, but just out in the 'burbs of Thailand, in high society, and generally all around town.

Thank you

Not through the glass! Straight from the bottle.

I wish that Taiwanese sales strategy would catch on at the clusters of roadside fruit stalls. :D

Not gonna happen. Either betel is seen in a SEAsian culture as "hip" and the province of the young (Burma), as something consumed regularly by everyone (Taiwan), or as a stinky, disgusting archaic habit of old people (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam). That attitude in those latter countries is not gonna change. They must freak when they see the Taiwan version.

MIL/FIL both chew despite having only three teeth between 'em. When visiting my home they are on their best behaviour and carry an empty can in which to gob. Do Taiwan girls also carry round such sexy accoutrements?

Ya, and why would you smell moth balls? Cripes, how could you even get those tiny moth legs apart anyway?

Taiwan Babes?

Usually they carry around styrofoam cups for the butts they smoke and any red juice that they do not swallow.

You will see truck drivers and cabbies with styrofoam cups half filled beside the driver's seat.

A good betelnut habit can cost USD30 per day, easily.

The betelnut trees which have been planted all over Taiwan's mountains have destroyed the scenery, and created environmental destruction.
