Hi mazo,

You might get one of those beach huts on an unidentified island, that PhimaiPaiul wants to rent.

In fact he might rent it from you! :o

You are about 5 years too late.....a condo will probably be your only choice now.

Even the Beach huts are getting hard to find, as nobody on the forum has seen one recently :o

Yeah, for that price you are better off looking outside of Pattaya. How ever, if you know some local Thais, they may be able to help.

2 years ago, a friend of my landlady told her of two Thai houses for sale around 900,000 baht. Not big, not new, not fancy. I should have looked into it further, but had other things on my mind at the time.

Most of the farang realty services are very expensive (to some of us). One of the Euro members here though commented on how these prices were cheap compared to where he came from (Belgium I think).

One of the people in my building (a Thai) pointed out the price of a used jet-ski the other day, 290,000 baht. He said for that price, he could buy a nice house in Korat.

Had a quick look in an old mates site (think he has moved on )and the best would seem to be a house in Bang Saray for @ Bt 1.4.

They have some condos with beach views from about 600k but looks like Patti will never be the same again.

Check... Homefinders (i have no connection)

Neat new build cottage in the Bang Saray area.

House to Buy..Other....1,395,000 THB

Bedrooms: 2

Bathrooms: 1

House Size: 120 Sq. Mtrs.

Land Size: 50 Sq. Wah.

No kitchen, no furniture, no air conditioning but the build is sound and it's escellent value for money.

There are already a few foreigners in the area so you will not be isolated.

If you have plenty of time on your hands and you're the adventurous type, you could always buy a small plot of land and build a Thai style house on it.

Land away from the beach is still selling at 800,000 - 1M Baht per rai. You could buy half a rai, or even a quarter - big enough for a small house and garden. You could then build a fairly decent Thai style house - concrete base, mainly wooden structure, for half a million or less.

Then if your situation improves later, you could always re-build or add/improve to what you originally built.

Just an idea, but I wouldn't recommend it if you know little or nothing about building -as you'll almost certainly get ripped off. :o

If you can handle a little bit more I saw houses going for 1.4 which of course is negotiable.

I went to a Thai estate agent just back from where you turn off Suk. road to Pattaya. The showed me some existing places that were asking 1.4 and may have gone down and they showed me some brand new places for the same price 3 bedroom and they were just off Suk road a couple of ks down past the Pattaya turn off on the left hand side.

This was in October last year.

Try the banks they often have reposessed properties for sale.

Or...............aim for a 1 storey townhouse on 20tw of land..........i pass one everyday for sale just off Soi Khao Noi for 690k baht and its an end one.

Depends on your reasons for close proximity to Pattaya, but lots of 2/3 bedroom bungalows here in Sattahip for 1 million or less! 30 minute drive or 1 hour, 20 baht bus ride to Pattaya.
