August 10, 201312 yr Had not heard of this one : New Airline Alert: Asia Atlantic AirlinesIf you've made it through all of the alliteration in that title, we are excited to bring the news of a new airline based in Thailand. The fresh-faced carrier is a mixture of Thai and Japanese travel companies and will bring a 'New Dynamic Force' in chartered tour groups between the two countries.Capitalizing on the country's leisure market, the airline will be based in Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport and flying their two Boeing 767s from the Thai capital to Tokyo Narita and Osaka. Each of the planes will be equipped with both the cushy seats of business class and the cheaper seats of economy.Passengers will be treated to dedicated immigration counters when departing Bangkok and will have lounge access while waiting for their journey to begin at BKK and Narita. Since the airline is a brainchild of Japanese travel giant, H.I.S., and Thailand's airline group, Baiyoke, passengers can expect the best of both worlds when it comes to safety and service.Thinking that you may never see these blue and aqua planes on American soil? Think again; once more aircraft are delivered, they plan to expand their network to China, South Korea, Guam and Hawaii. Once they make the hop across the Pacific, we wonder if they will consider dropping Atlantic in their name. -- Jaunted.com
August 10, 201312 yr Seems they are catering towards tour groups? Tickets can only be purchased from a tour company here in Thailand.
August 10, 201312 yr Looks like a charter airline by that huge agency H.I.S., which is promoting "6 days/4 nights for 29,990" all in, now that Thai citizens can travel to Japan without a visa.
August 10, 201312 yr A number of new charters airlines in the last few years, PC Air & U Airlines to name 2. However, after the LGBT friendly PC Air's fuel payment trouble sin Seoul last year the Civil Aviation Dept introduced stricter requirements for new charter airlines before they would get a operators certificate. So AAA should be cashed up. However, as the article notes, having 'Asian Atlantic' in your name would make me concerned that their geographical knowledge may be lacking......
August 11, 201312 yr Interesting name. Reminds me of those Japanese t-shirts with non-sensical phrases in English.
