Photographer Luca Invernizzi Tettoni In Memoriam

Featured Replies

Luca Invernizzi Tettoni, an Italian photographer from Turin based in Asia, mostly Thailand, since 1973, passed away on Sunday in Bangkok after a long illness.

Luca was one of the foremost photographers of Asian fine art, architecture and interiors. He travelled throughout the region and was known as much for his mordant, irreverent humour as for his deep and informed appreciation of Asian culture and heritage.

Bathing rites will be held at 6.30 pm on 19, 20, and 21 August at Sala 4, Wat Phrasri Mahathat Woramahawihan, Bang Khen. The cremation will be at the same temple, Meru 2, on Thursday, 22 August, at 2.00 pm.

Sorry to hear about your friend's death. RIP.

Would you happen to know about Fabio Polenghi?

He was the Italian photographer shot dead three years ago during the Red Shirt protests in BKK.

I've written to a relative of is, Cesare Polenghi, the author of:

1. http://www.samurai-archives.com/jia.html

2. http://www.dco.co.th/product_info.php?products_id=987

I wrote to Cesare to ask about other things, but I also passed on my condolences.

I'd be interested to know more about Fabio.

Just re-read this topic after remembering that Luca co-authored several books with William Warren.

Luca was undoubtedly a good photographer.

He made a big, important and impressive contribution.

He was one of those very rare expats who actually achieved something here in Thailand.

Working with Luca in Thailand 1983 - 89 was a gentile pleasure. I remember him fondly for his wit and taste.

I guess you registered with this forum to make that post. That's okay. I'm sure Luca was a good man.

I remember buying a book of his back in 1999. It was called THAI GARDEN STYLE. I really enjoyed reading it.

I have a lot of respect for Italians here in Thailand (and elsewhere too, in fact). I admire their devotion to style, finesse and elegance.
