Hey all

I would buy an 1 or 2 years old used Honda Wave 125i or Yamaha Spark or something with manual gear on Samui, but it is not many offers for selling on thaivisa, bahtsold, motorcycle.in.th . Only a lot of automatic gear scooters offers. So could somebody advice me where to search on Samui or in internet? And a price range?

Regards Aleks

I buy my used bikes from a rental guy that I know.

They are not expensive - but a lot more than two years old. (and fairly knackeredd)

Maybe try a rnetal place that is not doing much business?

Coming from Big C towards Maenam go through the traffic lights at Bophut and around 300 metres or so on the left hand side is a large second hand motorcycle shop.

I think they are based in Suratthani as if you buy a bike from there you have to wait a week or so for the log book to arrive.

The only problem, which is similar to buying a second hand car in Thailand, the prices seem very high for what you are buying (Age, condition, mileage).

Better to buy a new one on credit if you can buy the bike in a Thai name.

Thanks for advising. Could you write the shop google map coordinate? I am newbie on Samui and some time it is difficult to orientate.

The place mentioned above, just through the lights at Bophut, are VERY VERY VERY expensive. Basically, they dont want a farang with cash to go in there and buy a bike. They charge stupid prices and want Thai's, with little or no money, who have no other choice, to go in there and buy a bike on finance at exorbitant prices. Be warned!

Thanks for this note. I will be carefull and compare all the available prices.

Any more ideas where to find local market for used motorbikes (thai popular like Wave, Spark and other manual gears)? How thai people sold and buy motorbikes to each other?

P.S. I have not thai girlfriend to ask somebody native all those questions.

You can also have a look in Nathon in the middle road heading towards Lamai, just before you hit the 2 way, it's on your right , a couple of used / repo motorbike shops

There are about 5 places between Lamai and Nathon, the Muslim fella in Lamai just past 5 star chicken, two in Hua Thanon either side of the road just past Tiger zoo turning, one by 7/11 Namuang, and lots of smaller places selling one or two on the way to Nathon.

As mentioned, bigC bikes very expensive and usually are accident repaired (I have checked quite a few and know what to look for) so steer clear.

good luck

The noticeboards in Tesco, Big C sometimes contain ads re 2nd hand bikes being sold privately.

HTH

Is it possible to find offers in English there?

Semi autos are getting rare these days. 2nd hand prices for most things in Thailand are too much. New 100cc wave kicker with drums starts at about 32K, rather have that than a 7 year old 125i at the same price.
