BANGKOK: -- Police investigation into Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Camronwit Thoopgrajank's ethics as recommended by the Office of the Ombudsman is underway.

The Ombudsman’s office spokesman Raksagecha Chaechai said Thursday that all further queries will be put on hold for the time being.

Royal Thai Police commander Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew had written to the Ombudsman's Office explaining that a panel had been set up to look into Camrongwit's conduct.

The Bangkok police chief had reportedly flown to Hong Kong a while ago so fugitive former PM Thaksin Shinawatra could pin a decoration on his chest. Raksagecha said the Ombudsman's Office would not intervene in the police bureau's scrutiny process.

He added that the Ombudsman's Office would only take action if there are complaints about the investigation or if the punitive actions are not transparent once the probe has been completed.

Could beat any soap opera. Makes a fantastic movie script hmmmmmmm just thinking about all the sequels.

I'm just wondering if this was the same guy who said he'd quit his job if the police didn't get a conviction against the Red Bull heir for killing a policeman. Maybe not connected at all. Just wondering.

The Ombudsman's Office was requested to investigate by a police commander, but The Ombudsman's Office stated that they would not "intervene" in police scrutiny. So who is doing the investigation? It seems like the police traveler to Hong Kong has some splain' to do.

Amazing that, with all the corruption, visiting Thaksin is what triggers an investigation.

Thaksin is simply a distraction, used to take heat off so many indiscretions. Get over it boys and girls.

Let's see now, a top cop flies to Hong Kong to meet the top Shinawatra and receive a decoration from a fugitive from Thai justice and who is unlikely to be legally to dish out any official awards.

The only likely outcome of this will be further promotion for the boy in brown.

Or at least a rewarding transfer to a more profitable district.

You think it's that simple?

Suggest you read the past history ...

Just for the record, it wasn't a decoration (the word makes it sound like he's being honoured for service above and beyond the call of duty - our hero!). It was Kamronwit's promotion insignia or medal or whatever it's called. And what a grand honour to have it bestowed by none other than Thaksin. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Actually, my guess is that the national police chief will pin ANOTHER medal on the guy's chest, just as a reward.

And yes, I believe this guy is the same one who vowed to get a conviction in the Red Bull/dead cop case.

Even if you tried explaining, to a person in his position, the definition of 'a fugitive' - he would either not understand, or there would be so many distraction/interruptions that you couldn't complete a sentence (no pun intended). No kidding. Anyone reading this, who has ever spoken with a Thai police officer, knows that you cannot get a sentence completed without interruptions. They are more easily distracted than a canary in a den of cats.

Forget about trying to explain to a cop that it's a cop's duty to arrest a fugitive. They either wouldn't understand, or they'd laugh you out of their office.

Now I can fully understand why Thailand is so popular for tourists. Its the worlds leading country for stand up comedy, from politicians to the BIB they are all naturally born comedians !

Never put your job or life in the hands of the police in the LOS. Remember when Police Captain Dr. Chalerm told the reds at the Udon Thani rally in May of this year if he failed to bring Thaksin home by the New Year he would accept sole responsibility and you can behead me? I wonder if it will be a public or private beheading.

Yep, would make for great TV. We have the same problem here in Cambodia. Hun Sen famously said many years ago that he would cut his own throat if he could not stop illegal logging... still waiting. Maybe someone in the Thai media could ask the good Captain what his plans are regarding this...thumbsup.gif

I think it was the commander of Phra Khanong Station.

He has a large photo in his office of the occasion and the inscription. To the man who made my promotion possible. No shame. He did consult his mother and she said it would be OK.

That's the easiest solution, move the investigation to be conducted by his friends laugh.png

Right, a complaint that Thailand has too much snow will be brought up before any complaints against the investigation will be aired.

By the way, isn't it the time of year yet that the Ombudsman should give Yingluck another 6 months to answer the question about Thaksins illegally issued passport ?
