As little as you can get away for.

It's wrong and that's with me being happily married for 12 years...

Its there is a reverse correlation with the attractiveness and intelligence of the guy marrying. :D

MFG, I think you and D48 have too much time of your hands..... wink.png

The outcome could be interesting, though. It should show who wears the trousers in your calculator design partnership..tongue.png

Lol, that's cool but ridiculously overvalued - apparently sin sot for my girl should be 2,418,000 Baht.

She has a Honda Click ?................huh.png.pagespeed.ce.6VcCaNwNXg.png

OK, let me explain.

Someone asked me for a SinSot Calculator once.

MissFarmGirl found it and sent it to me today.

We did some translations because the whole site* is in Thai

It's a fun thing for calculating the sin Sit if wedding a Thai Girl from Bangkok

The strange thing is that it doesn't mention either if the lady in question has been married before OR if she has kids.

All that aside ... here goes!

The headline is basically ... "Calculate the correct amount of SinSot (Dowry) if married in Bangkok

The sub headline is ... "The wedding is in Bangkok"

The 2 columns are headed as ... 'left column' is you, the man ... the right column is the woman.

The 1st question is 'How much is your Salary (per month)? ... Yours (left column) and Hers (right column)?

The 2nd question is your respective ages? ... Yours (left column) and Hers (right column)?

The 3rd question is do you reside in the City (Bangkok presumably)? ... You (left column) and Her (right column)?

The 4th question is your respective education Bachelor or higher? ... Yours Yes? (left column) and Hers Yes? (right column)?

The 5th question is are you the first married of your family? ... You Yes? (left column) and Her Yes? (right column)?

The 6th question do you have to 'take care' of your family? ... You Yes? (left column) and Her Yes? (right column)?

The last question asks about your current position within your Company.

Are you a manager or higher level in your company ... You Yes? (left column) and Her Yes? (right column)?

Press 'Calculate' ... laugh.png

As said, all a bit of harmless fun

* Mods ... it's not a link to another forum

Any tool that doesn't result in ' 0 ' is broken.

A tool, for tools, so to say.

Maybe you are to serious with it ... Winnie, you do live in Thailand don't you?

A respected member up Chiang Mai way?

Some sanook ... nothing more.

When have you ever seen a Sin Sot thread where the guy isn't backed into a corner ... or one where you could have a bit of fun with?

I think, someone is asking in the helpforum, how to hide a thread so that his wife can't see it.

Now I understand... whistling.gif

I never paid a sinsot, but I did build her mother a house, which I now live in. The mother unfortunately died, but I did live with her for 4 years. Never a problem, she was a lovely old lady.

Calculation for my girlfriend looks like this:

HER ESTIMATED SIN SOD VALUE:

1. Her income: THB 60,000 to 90,000 per month -> Sin Sod value: THB 1,000,000

2. Her looks: Solid 9,5 out of 10 -> Sin Sod value: THB 1,000,000

3. Other stuff: Her assets, care about family etc. -> Sin Sod value: THB 1,000,000

Sin Sod, Sub Total value: THB 3,000,000

DEDUCTIONS:

1. She is pregnant now -> Minus THB 1,000

2. We have lived together for 4 years -> Minus THB 1,000

3. Both her parents have passed away -> Minus THB 2,998,000

Sin Sod, Sub Total Deductions: -THB 3,000,000

TOTAL SIN SOD TO PAY: THB 0,00 :-)

PS: Took me 3 years for her to say "Yes" to marry me. Planning to get married in two months :-)

Is it cultural to ignore sin sod if the girl has lived outside of Thailand for some time? (4+ years)?

I just asked my girl and she laughed and said sin sod should only be for show... Money is returned after the wedding...

She thinks Sin Sod is an older custom most Thai's dont practice or worry about, or if they do, its simply for show... Seems a lot of people here have girls / family's of a different opinion... :/ ... Such a confusing place at times haha :P

Perhaps this is because she has lived in Australia? And makes a good aussie wage? (Although, its only equal to transams girls wage b4 tax)

Why does the edit button remove its self? haha

I just noticed it was not transams who posted what I read, but khun..

Now I cant fix it.... And all will read my post and know I am a blundering fool

All I can say about this is that no two circumstances are the same.

Sin Sot for stay for some,

Sin Sot for go for others,

Sin Sot just for show for many.

Everyone different ... rolleyes.gif

By definition my missus is a "Bangkok Girl" in so far as she was born here and spent her first 15 years here. After that she went to the UK and lived near Birmingham (Aston) for 3 years then went to London whence I met her having been set up on a 'blind date' as I'd told her room mate I liked 'Asian birds' and her dad sent us to Spain for our honeymoon...

Can your thingy work that one out?

My business partner has to show Sin sot of 1 million Baht for his wedding next month to his Bangkok GF.

He = 32 years / She 29 years

She is a Thai Chinese and currently works with a Master degree in Dermatology.

She doesn't speak Chinese but my friend spoke Chinese to her father and he agreed to return it to him. Wedding reception will be paid by the FIL at a four star hotel.

FIL only wishes that my friend brings his married wife back to Singapore one day.
