hot or cold compress

Featured Replies

I slipped and fell in my flat the other day and sustained a forehead injury requiring stitches, just above my left eyebrow. Initially I applied cold compresses to my eye, (which has come up a real shiner), but I think I should switch to warm compresses now, to reduce the welling of my eyelid which is swollen.

Proper advice required.

I am applying arnica to the bruising, but it's coming up in a dramatic blue, to black colour, and will be so for a few days. I have used cold (used) tea bags, which are quite soothing.

Grateful for proper advice regarding the compress now that it's about 48 hours old.

Continue with cold compresses though after 48h and later the effect is less important than in the first few.
