BANGKOK: -- A drug dealer was arrested yesterday after attempting to donate 11 yaba pills at a centre collecting donations for flood victims in Chon Buri's Sattahip district.

The man reportedly urged workers at the centre to sell the drugs and use the proceeds to aid flood-affected people in the Eastern region.

Apparently under the influence of his own wares, former drug convict Jakkrit Mukpradap, 39, was arrested while trying to donate the pills to a booth in front of Wat Thep Prasart yesterday morning. He confessed to having taken five yaba pills earlier in the day.

A search of his home turned up a home-made gun and some ammunition.

Jakkrit said he got the drugs from a Rayong supplier identified only as Chamlong. Jakkrit said he had dealt drugs for three years after serving a prison term for his prior offence.

He said he was motivated to aid flood victims after watching a TV news report, so he donated the pills believing staff members could sell them for Bt3,000.

Thai Navy Narcotics Officers were called by those manning the donation center in Sattahip Town Center on Monday Morning and seconds after arriving they arrested Khun Jukgrit who had “donated” a bag of 11 Yabba Tablets and told staff at the donation point to sell them and donate the cash to flood victims.

Khun Jukgrit’s home was later raided by officers who found no more drugs but did find a 38 caliber pistol. During questioning the suspect, who has already served time in Prison on drug offenses, claimed he purchased the drugs from a drug dealer based in the Map Ta Put Industrial Area in Rayong Province, Khun Jumlong, who is now the subject of a separate investigation.

I'm no fan of people selling methamphetamines but, on a purely ethical note, you can't really label this guy as a nasty piece of work can you? This guy is going to jail (again)... what's the point?

yes, even though he was high and not thinking straight he is obviously a good person that just wanted to help, i hope things work out ok for him and he stops messing around with that stuff, just a few beers or shot of whisky is much better !

jeezo, from the photo, the guy looks a lot older than 38. He's probably also has another drug problem, same same as nearly all Thai men (and most farang) have: too much drinking of fermented sugar drinks.

Hope they lock him up, no matter his claimed "good intentions."

Of course if this happened in so-called Enlightened Countries such as Australia or the U.S., there would be a legion of Do-Gooders bleating that the poor guy was under the influence of drugs himself and thus, not responsible for his actions.

The Do-Gooders would protest in the streets and on the media until the scum-bag was released and free to again sell his filthy drugs to innocent kids, including those of the Do-Gooders, who might then sing a very different tune.
