Nissan will join Ford in opening a new segment in the Thai car market with public launches at next month's motor expo.

The Nissan Juke and Ford Ecosport B-segment crossovers will create a new class below compact sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) such as the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5.

This is a nicely designed exterior.

Hopefully these guys will take it into and compete in the 'Big boy' (<THB 1.5 Mil) SUV market! coffee1.gif

Just how can Ford compete with over a Years wait to get a Ranger?

Being a big time international corporate player, makes it somewhat easier.

Living in Australia we are Ford people, i and others in my family have owned them all our lives but in Thailand Toyota is king and it should be, the Japanese cars tower over the American cars any day but it was interesting to hear my girlfriend comment as to why Ford is the best thing since sliced cheese now,,,hands up to the power of advertising,, if enough advertising (brainwashing / propaganda) is shown people will eat i all up without research,, many people here will believe everything they see on TV,, so maybe in a few years the roads of Bangkok will all be flooded with Ford cars,,, lets see...

Good point! thumbsup.gif

I asked a Thai friend if he liked Fords and Chevys. He said yes but would not buy one because few dealer service places.

An excellent factor to ponder for those of us who live outside of the major Thai metropolis and (or) frequently travel the roads of LOS and don't want to find ourselves far away from a dealer service shop in the event of a mechanical breakdown in a small village town. In these circumstances, Toyota, Honda, Isuzu and Mitsubishi vehicles are the best bets.

This is confusing. Ford have a long association with Mazda. They are already tied together with a production facility in Thailand. Ford have been selling Mazda products, badged as Fords for quite a few years.

The headline is misleading - there's no collaboration between Ford and Nissan. What they're trying to say is that both makes are soon releasing b-segment sized SUV's which is a segment that doesn't currently exist in TH...

In the next year or two we'll also see the Chevy Traxx, Honda's new Jazz-based SUV, and possibly also the Toyota Rush (AKA Daihatsu Terios - ex Indonesia) enter the segment.

The ties between Mazda and Ford are stretched very thin and will break sooner rather than later.

Gone are the days of the exclusive collaborations of the past, but I don't think any car manufacture would go so far as to burn bridges.

Maybe the journo meant "carving notches" as a novel way to count sales figures? They certianly wouldn't need to much wood to count Ranger 3.2L production if using that method - they probably just use the janitors broomstick for that :P

Toyota bought them. w00t.gif ........................laugh.png

Nope, but both Mazda and Nissan are buying Toyota's hybrid tech, so no need for Toyota to buy them :P

Your kidding, right? It's the ugliest thing on 4 wheels I've seen in a while.

Not only that, almost at end of model life too (almost 4 years old).

I used to think that Thais would never use any other phone than a Nokia back in 2000-2005. How things have changed.

Not really. They are still regularly asking for well over a million baht for really old, second-hand Mercs.

Nokia didn't see it coming either though, so your short-sightedness is forgiven :P
