What is an Intensive English Programme?
We had that issue with my wife's son, my stepson. I had to move away to Bangkok suburbs for work. Wife wanted her son to come with us. I promised to put him through school there and give him opportunities. I promised we'd be back to Isaan in 5 years where I would continue to put him through school. The child's paternal grandparents disagreed. The father was not particularly interested what happened. The boy stayed with grandparents. He is now delinquent and often in trouble with the local constabulary. My wife has washed her hands of him as he only contacted when in need of money. It's a shame. Our daughter, only 3 years younger had the stable upbringing eith us. Was taught to work hard to achieve. She is now in UK studying and working to be a nurse. What could gave been for the boy? We'll never know but certainly he'd be in a better situation than he is now. -

Even in the 19th century it wasn't anywhere near as simple as your nonsense statement. The Prussians saved the day at Waterloo. Treaties and alliances were made and broken. And your throw away remark about Germany is so out of context. There hasn't been a war in Europe since 1945. The nearest is Russia's invasion of Ukraine. That's why it is/was critical to totally destroy the Russian invasion. Europe doesn't need that kind of crap on its doorstep. And no, there were no nuclear missiles on Putin's doorstep either. So no excuses for his folly. Just a land grab and neutralising potential EU and NATO membership. NATO about to invade Russia? Do me a favour! -

Sorry to hear. I was almost refused entry thrice in early 2020, incl. once at each Bangkok airport. Perhaps a good idea to bring some beverage and food when travelling to Thailand, cause one never knows... -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
I have Netflix. I like the subtitles and the language selections, because my wife can watch US shows/movies in Thai and I can read the English subtitles, but there just does not seem to be much I want to watch -

Am I suddenly old? Everyone is smiling and helping me!
I can't say Thais are rude, often the opposite but they can be careless. Whenever I enter the bank I always hold the door open for people behind me, man or woman, and they seem pleasantly surprised as if that's unusual, in fact it has resulted in friendly conversations while waiting for my number to be called out by the cashier. The older I get the more respect is shown to me by my stepdaughters friends and boyfriends, the latest one shot out of his seat when I appeared to give me a wai, I thought at first he was going to salute me. what I find strange is the lack of formal introduction such as "Papa, this Somchai, Somchai this is Papa", when I mentioned it to my wife she said, "Why should that be necessary, it's obvious who you are", "Do you know his name" I asked, "No, he's a colleague from her work place, he's not dating me why should I know his name, it will crop up sooner or later", I find that most strange.
