non-b visa - 90-day or border run?

i have a buddy with a non-b visa, no really!

he is not yet working in the kingdom & he is coming up to the end of his first 3 months of stay here. does he need to do a border run or can he just do 90-day reporting?

i think it's the former but i could be wrong. also as i understand his non-b is single & not multi-entry, if that makes a difference.

Unless he has a work eprmit, he needs to leave the country when his 90 days are up.

He must leave at he end of current stay it seems as has no stated reason or qualification for an extension of stay from immigration. He can hem apply for a visa that he may qualify for or return on visa exempt entry if allowed.

With a single entry non-B, he will only receive a 30 or 15 day visa exempt stamp at the border.
