Air travelers told to leave for airports 3 hours ahead of departure time

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International, Thai Air Asia and Nok Air have advised their customers to leave homes three hours before their departures citing reason of heavy traffic jams as the result of widespread protests in the capital today.

Airports of Thailand also warned air travelers of heavy traffic jams while travelling to the airport and leaving earlier so that they would not miss the planes.

The national flag carrier THAI and two budget airlines told their air passengers to leave homes earlier to catch their flights because the scattered protests in the capital have caused heavy traffic jams and could delay their arrivals at the airport.

They said passengers should leave at least three hours before their flight departure time.

They also advised air travelers to use the Airport Link train service, buses and vans of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority instead of taxis.

"to leave homes three hours before their departures"

time of leaving for the airport depends on the distance to travel. One h is enough for me, for some it's ten minutes

The BTS system is functioning as normal, if anything fewer passengers or maybe this is just MONDAY. A short but heavy shower sent many of the whistlers into Centralworld for a spot of afternoon tea...30 minutes ago

I would have thought that if you're travelling from central Bangkok, you should leave 3 hours before your flight on ANY day.

edit: especially if an international flight.

No, it's the airport shops that want passengers spending money for as long as possible.

It's a normal thing. In the Netherlands this is done for years already. Why make haste and stress instead of make it an easy journey. Now only make the airport a bit interesting so that you can stay there that bit longer...
