Chiang Rai area tea and coffee plantations..

Featured Replies

Anyone recommend any to visit up that way, would prefer somewhere with some accommodation around the mountains, resorts, bungalows etc

Will be driving from CM to CR and to Burmese border at Mae Sai so anywhere in that area or not too much of a diversion.....or bigger diversion ok if well worth it.

I would recommend Rai Boon Rawd and ChouiFong plantations.

We took a drive up to Choui Fong Tea Plantation today. It was my first time there and I thought it worthy of the top 50 list. What do you think?

There are also the beautiful curving lines of the tea plantation at Rai Boon Rawd.

Doi Chaang might be a good choice for coffee.

Doi Chang. Don't forget to buy a 5kg sack of their peaberry green coffee and roast it yourself. Forget about the civet ingested coffee though. It's very expensive and vile tasting IMHO but each to his own. Doi Tung OK but a lot of tourist buses there.

Doi Tung is a must to visit the King's mother home, if you like Thai history and architecture. Many nice resorts on the way in to choose.... to get on the way out......Also....on the way back to Chiang Rai, getting into Bandu / Rajawat University area, look for the Thermal Waters and Water Fall Park for nice mountain resorts too.....
