Baan Mae Kampong

Featured Replies

Got some friends coming. Looking for slightly less touristy day trips. They spent years in Thailand. Anyone got comments on Mae Kampong. Where or whether to stay one night? Other places to poke around nearby? One guest had recent knee surgery. How tough is the waterfall hike? Does that rocking stone rock?

You can see the waterfall from below, not far from the parking area. Those with healthier knees can take the path/steps up the left side of the w/f. enjoying the views of the large yellow, in your face "safety signs" put up by flight of the gibbon. IMHO spoils the nature experience. Homestays are available in the village, don't know the price, but probably gone up just like the coffee shop prices since FOG arrived in the village. The area is a beautiful corner of the valley, & we used to visit often until the gibbon folk arrived. Probably busy with bangkokkers at weekends. Enjoy.......

Take them microliting at Chiang Mai Sky Adventure if they haven't done it before. Visit the Wat in Doi Saket first, because they can fly around it. Everyone I have taken to do the two has raved about it.

How much does the microliting cost, and for how long?

Baan Mae Kampong is a pleasant day trip at best. Water fall..oh,hum....mostly its the cool temps that attracts people, perhaps can loop this in with a few other sights and activities in the area...hot springs et..
