Online payment to become mandatory for Thailand

From 16 December 2013 all UK visa applicants in Thailand will be required to pay for their visa online as part of the online application process. Payment can be made using Visa or MasterCard debit or credit cards. Please ensure your card has sufficient funds available before attempting application and payment. Other methods of payment will not be accepted from this date.

Cheaper? Only when pigs start to fly!

Visa fees are set in Sterling; and the actual fee charged in Baht depends on the exchange rate being used by the embassy at the time; known as the consular rate.

This is why the fee in Baht changes throughout the year when the actual Sterling fee is only changed annually.

Hopefully, this will mean that if the consular exchange rate changes between an applicant making their appointment and paying their fee and their attending the VAC then they wont be asked for the difference. But they wont get a refund if the fee in Baht goes down, either.
