Touring Bicycle shopping in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm desperately seeking a serious touring bike like a Surly or a Dawes here in Chiang Mai, yeh I know now I should have brought one with me?

Velocity has a Canadian brand, Japanese copy, made in China bike but they only have a smaller size than I'd like. I'm guessing I might have to get one imported in a 56 or 58?

Anybody throw some light on this for me, it'll be very much appreciated?

There is a Surly distributor in Bangkok. I ordered my LHT from my LBS. The distributor in BKK shipped it free to me here in Udon Thani. They are listed in the bicycle thailand site.

I ran into a local cyclist here today in Udon Thani who wants to sell his 2010 Surly LHT for 39,000THB. He told me it is a 56" frame with 700c wheels. Let me know if you're interested and I'll try to hook you guys up.

Thanks Mike, I tried Priiya, but to no avail. I eventually Tracked down a 58 frame in Km8 bicycle and I'm hopeful of getting a complete bike made up with an STI Tiagra modification, rather than the standard touring shifters. Otherwise I'd be asking for the guy in Udon's number, though he's asking quite a bit too much, I was quoted 42.500 for a new one.

I agree he's asking too much but I'm pretty sure that is just a starting price. I would suspect the price would end up at 30,000THB. In any event good luck with the new bike.

Yeah Mike I'd be interested at that price if it's in really good condition, I can't get this one sorted?

Thanks again, I'll post if I'm successful.

I haven't seen the bike but I suspect it's in good condition. Probably fewer kms than what I have on my 2011 LHT. Let me know if I can help.
